Abstract:
A method of producing a marking on a pipe for identifying a location of an object to be mounted on the pipe includes forming the marking by a pipe bending machine in which the pipe is bent. For this purpose the pipe bending machine is provided with a marking device.
Abstract:
A laser marker comprises a liquid crystal device for displaying pattern information representative of a character to be printed on an object to be worked, a pulse laser oscillator, a liquid crystal device power switch connected to the liquid crystal device, a laser switch connected to the pulse laser oscillator, and timer circuits operative to retard the operation of the laser switch with respect to that of the liquid crystal device power switch, whereby after the character to be printed is displayed properly on the liquid crystal device, a pulse laser beam is irradiated on the liquid crystal device so as to sharply print the character on the object.
Abstract:
A process for inscription of parts from plastic material whose color can be changed through the effect of an energy radiation used for providing alphanumeric characters or other symbols on the key buttons of a keyboard. The office machine keyboard completely equipped with blank key buttons is for that purpose moved relative to the energy radiation, for instance a laser beam, with the coordinated character or symbol being inscribed on each key button by the energy radiation in accordance with stored data as the key button proceeds into the effective area of the energy radiation.
Abstract:
This data processing system for a pattern generator receives data specifying each quadrilateral element in a pattern to be generated by laser scanning or other technique. The scanning is accomplished by swaths. In the preprocessor, separate vectors are produced for the portion of each quadrilateral edge in each swath. A real time processor, including a "pipeline" or cascaded set of beam processors, is used to generate a bit map from these clipped edge vectors. The bit map itself is skew compensated to take into account relative movement between the laser scanner and the target during pattern generation.
Abstract:
This invention concerns a method of marking articles having a polyolefin surface by exposure to a laser beam. The polyolefin contains a sufficient amount of a laser radiation absorbing substance for decomposing the polyolefin, so that a black mark of decomposed polyolefin will be formed. The laser radiation absorbing substance is a silicon compound, preferably a metal silicate, e.g. calcium-metasilicate or kaoline. The invention also comprises an article having a polyolefin surface, provided with a black mark of decomposed polyolefin formed by a laser beam.
Abstract:
A marking system for providing a superficial metallurgically immaterial mark on zirconium, its alloys, and other metals is disclosed. The method includes producing a thin oxide layer on the surface of the metal, and locally heating a portion of the oxide layer to reduce it to the base metal and oxygen, which is driven into solid solution, thereby leaving a mark of contrasting color.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus are described for producing a unique machine-readable marking, such as a bar-code marking, on each of a succession of workpieces, such as glass envelope parts of cathode-ray tubes. The method comprises producing and applying a different unique stencil for each workpiece and then applying a suitable paint through the stencil.
Abstract:
A laser system for inscribing permanent identification markings on or below the surface of a diamond. A shallow penetration depth and narrow line width is achieved by using a harmonic conversion device to produce an output frequency which is the second harmonic of the fundamental laser frequency in combination with a lens system having a short focal length to provide a high density pinpoint spot of laser energy. The energy intensity can be further regulated by a polarization attenuator. In operation, the diamond is mounted on a movable support structure which insures proper relationship to the laser beam. The process is activated by a computer which supplies positional commands to the movable support and is interfaced with the laser for generating programmed alpha-numeric sequences.
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing an element with a conducting surface and a pattern of insulating spots to be used as a die for the electrolytic production of sieves for screeen printing. The method starts from a conducting surface consisting of or coated with a material that either possesses insulating properties or can be rendered insulating after heating, the surface being patternwise irradiated with short pulses of a high-energy radiation, such that countersunk spots of an insulating substance are obtained on the surface.
Abstract:
Means and method for forming a raised metallic relief wherein a metal foil affixed to a support film is selectively etched, affixed to a wood surface, and then exposed to a scanning concentrated laser beam to vaporize the support film and wood in areas unprotected by the metal sheet. The metal design is left on the wood surface in the form of a raised relief.
