    摘要: A method of manufacturing spectacles by obtaining accurate frame shape information without performing a frame shape measurement in the spectacle store. In this method, frame shape information is first obtained after a spectacle frame is manufactured in a factory. Moreover, frame-related information, which includes the obtained frame shape information, or readout information, according to which this frame-related information is read out, is preliminarily added to the spectacle frame. Thereafter, in a spectacle store, the frame-related information is read from the spectacle itself or from a storage unit or the like by using the information added to the spectacle frame as a key. Thus, frame shape information, which is needed when obtaining lens processing information, is obtained therein. The present invention further provides a spectacle frame for use in this method.

It comprises a plurality of machining cells, a management system for the workpieces including storage appliances for storing the workpieces, transporting appliances for transporting the workpieces and handling appliances for manipulating the workpieces, and a data handling and exchange system for controlling the operations of the manufacturing and machining plant. The data handling and exchange system comprises a first external data handling and exchange network with a central data processing unit for the exchange of operation control data between the central data processing unit and the machining cells and for the exchange of transporting control data between the central processing unit and the transporting appliances. Further, there is provided a second internal data handling and exchange network for the exchange of data between the storage appliances, the transporting appliances and the handling appliances. The workpieces are mounted on pallets which comprise memory modules containing data for the identification of the workpiece, destination data for the transport of the workpieces, and data for fetching machine programs used for the machining of the workpiece. The data contained in the memory modules are processed by the second internal data handling and exchange network.

    摘要: A tool changer comprising a master module and a tool module includes a rapid-connect communication bus between the master and tool modules. A unique tool identification number, along with other tool-related information, may be transmitted from the tool module to the master module within about 250 msec of the master and tool modules coupling together. The master module includes a robotic system communications network node connected to the rapid-connect communication bus, and operative to transmit data between the tool and the network via the communication bus. The need for a separate network node in the tool module is obviated, reducing cost and reducing the start-up time required to initialize such a network node upon connecting to a new tool. The rapid-connect communication bus may be a serial bus.

An RFID system utilizes RFID tags on each of the plurality of components in order to track and/or monitor characteristics of either the entire mill stand assembly or individual components thereof. An RFID tag reader may be incorporated within a mill stand or may include portable devices. In one embodiment, RFID tag interrogation occurs both at the mill stand and at a remote site at which bearing assembly occurs. A unique combination of mill stand components can be assembled, identified and monitoring during successive rolling campaigns allowing the mill operator to make adjustments toward improving the quality of rolled product.

    摘要: One aspect related to design of systems and methods for manufacturing products that include technology in skilled areas is configuring a production station for use by an operator without specialized skills. The present invention contemplates an approach to designing a station configurable to perform one or more of incoming inspection, assembly, testing, and branding. A preferred approach includes verifying data associated with units prior to accepting them for incorporation, preventing incorporation of an incorrect unit, and guiding an operator in possible remedial action. This approach includes storing data in a server and making such data substantially instantly accessible to production stations once written in the server. Such data preferably includes software to configure the production station such that the operator need not have specialized skills. A production station designed using this approach is particularly useful in the manufacture of an outdoor unit of a split-mount microwave radio system.
