摘要: A bidirectional DC converter assembly includes two serially-arranged DC/DC converters. The first converter is a buck (or a buck/boost) converter to be connected to a high-voltage (HV) level of an electric vehicle. The second converter is a series resonant switching converter to be connected to a low-voltage (LV) of the vehicle. The series resonant switching converter of the second converter is formed by a DC/AC converter, a transformer, and an AC/DC converter, which are serially arranged in the stated order between the first converter and the LV level. A bidirectional peak current controller is associated with the first converter. The peak current controller is realized by a current measurement at an inductor of the first converter. The peak current controller uses the coil current value, which is modified with an offset value and thus has a constant sign, as a set point in controlling the first converter.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a non-Inductive voltage boost-converter (NVBC) for micro-power energy harvesting systems for energy storage and delivery applications. Current devices deliver a wide-range of micro-power having only up to 0.8V peak-voltage, but nominally 0.45V in lab test conditions. This voltage is not adequate in charging storage cells such as rechargeable batteries and also driving electronic circuits. Technology is in demand where a boost-converter must operate at MOS sub-threshold voltage (Sub-VTH) limits. Disclosed herein is a novel NVBC device that has eliminated the need of an inductor coil and associated high-speed switching circuits; thus achieving higher efficiency. The disclosed invention applies a simple self-synchronizing technique to adapt the NVBC automatically to the low-frequency energy signal of a pyroelectric device. A novel NVBC is presented for stabilized output of NVBC (S-NVBC). In an embodiment, the S-NVBC achieves an efficiency of 86%.

摘要: An operation mode selection unit selects an operation mode of a power converter and generates a mode selection signal indicating the result of selection, in accordance with a load condition and a power supply condition. An operation mode switching control unit generates a mode control signal designating an operation mode of the power converter. When the operation mode currently selected by the mode control signal is different from an operation mode indicated by the mode selection signal, the operation mode switching control unit adjusts a power distribution ratio between a plurality of DC power supplies or an output voltage on an electric power line so as not to change abruptly, and then permits a transition of operation mode.

摘要: An apparatus and method for a voltage reference circuit and oscillator which operates for a low voltage power supply. The voltage reference circuit is used in an “always on” mode of operation, and have low power usage. The operational range is 1.1V to 3.6 V, and must allow for sub-bandgap voltage conditions as well as voltage tolerant for higher voltages. The circuit minimizes the number of current branches by avoiding complexity of operational amplifiers and comparator networks. The circuit avoids stacking of more than 2 devices to allow for low voltage operation. The voltage reference circuit between a power supply node and a ground node and configured for generating a reference voltage comprises of a current mirror function providing matching and sourcing network branches, a voltage generator network sourced from a current mirror providing a base-emitter voltage, a current drive function network electrically sourced from a current mirror function, and an output network function sourced from a current mirror providing a voltage reference output voltage. An oscillator circuit between a power supply node and a ground node and configured for generating an oscillating signal comprises of a current mirror function providing matching and sourcing network branches, a current drive function network electrically sourced from said current mirror function, an output network function sourced from said current mirror providing a capacitors, current sources, a capacitor providing charge storage, and output network function, and, a feedback loop network providing reset function.

In an exemplary embodiment, an apparatus includes a main branch comprising a first signal path having a first capacitor pair connected in series with reversed polarities and a second signal path having a second capacitor pair connected in series with reversed polarities, the first and second signal paths connected in parallel. The apparatus also includes an auxiliary branch comprising at least one signal path having at least one capacitor pair connected in series with reversed polarities and connected in parallel with the main branch. In an exemplary embodiment, the capacitors are MOS capacitors.

摘要: A charge pump system uses a helper pump to use in generating a boosted clock signal to use for the stages capacitor of a charge pump and also for the gate clock of the stage. This can be particularly useful in applications with lower supply levels, where a the helper pump can be used to provide an amplitude higher than the supply level, that can then be added to the supply level for the boosted clock signal and then added again to the supply level for the gate clock. Further advantages can be obtained by using the helper or auxiliary pump as an input to an optimized inverter circuit that receives an input clock and has an output that initially rises to the supply level than subsequently to the auxiliary pump's level.

摘要: A charge pump circuit is provided for generating a voltage (1+1/n) times as high as a supply voltage. The charge pump circuit eliminates the need for diodes for preventing a current from flowing back from a high potential side of capacitors to prevent a reduction in the voltage due to a forward voltage, and reduces a reactive current and latch-up when the charge pump circuit is integrated into a single IC chip. The charge pump circuit includes a fourth switching element having a substrate gate connected to a drain for preventing a current from flowing back to an input terminal from a high potential side of fly back capacitors connected in series, and a second switching element having a substrate gate connected to a drain for preventing a current from flowing back from a high potential side of a catch-up capacitor to the fly back capacitors connected in series.

摘要: In a voltage booster, a voltage detection circuit detects a battery voltage as an input voltage. If the input voltage is lower than a threshold level, an oscillation circuit outputs a gate signal having a relatively high frequency to increase the driving performance of a driving circuit. If the input voltage is higher than the threshold level, the frequency of the gate signal is lowered so as to prevent the driving performance of the driving circuit from rising to an excessively high value. As a result, a predetermined boosted voltage can be obtained regardless of variations in input voltage without using a filter for eliminating noise.
