Abstract:
In one embodiment, a menuing system is overlaid upon a portion of a video being shown on a display device coupled to a programmable multimedia controller. The portion of the video is less than an entire screen of the video such that at least some of the video is still visible. The menuing system has a plurality of selectable options. In response to a scrolling gesture in a direction, an element is moved in a corresponding direction within the menuing system to bring the element to a designated position in the menuing system to permit selection of a particular selectable option. In response to selection of the particular selectable option, one or more control commands are issued to a device coupled to the programmable multimedia controller to control an aspect of operation of the device.
Abstract:
A multi-directional remote control system and method is adapted for use with an entertainment system of a type including a display (112) such as a monitor or TV and having display functions employing a mouse type control. The remote controller (110) may be conveniently held in one hand of a user and still provides full mouse type functionality. The remote control system and method images the screen of the TV or other display to detect relative motion between the controller (110) and screen. This position information is transmitted to the entertainment system for control of a cursor or other GUI interface.
Abstract:
A method for providing a virtual, universal remote control feature includes displaying a virtual remote interface for an electronic device. A user interaction with an element of the virtual remote interface is detected. The virtual remote interface element is mapped to a device-function code. The device-function code is provided to a code transmitter. The device-function code corresponds to a control command associated with the electronic device.
Abstract:
A method, system, and executable instructions are provided that, in a first mode, display, on the television screen, a thumbnail preview comprising EPG information associated with the selected program and the graphical image, wherein the selected program corresponds to an in focus program in a listing of EPG information for multiple channels and/or programs and wherein the graphical image is not related with a currently viewed program and in a second mode, display, on the television screen, a header bar, the header bar comprising EPG information associated with the selected program and the graphical image, wherein the selected program corresponds to a currently viewed program and is not related to an in focus program in a listing of EPG information for multiple channels and/or programs.
Abstract:
An Intelligent Television provides unique user interfaces and user interface interactions to provide social media. The interfaces and interface are intuitive and allow the user to quickly retrieve and view social media with respect to content displayed on the Intelligent Television. Further, intuitive user interface interactions are provided to allow for the quick and efficient posting of social media from the Intelligent Television to a social media site.
Abstract:
An Intelligent TV having a silo manager, a panel manager and a panel controller. The various managers and controllers managing a global panel and an application panel. The global panel includes various types of information and the various types of input and content available. The global panel includes various information including, for example, Live TV information, on demand information, media center information, application information, HDMI 1 information, HDMI 2 information, HDMI 3 information, component 1 information, component 2 information, AV 1 information, AV 2 information, VGA information, as well as an option to hide undetected inputs. The application panel is dynamic and can optionally change based on one or more of context and content of the underlying application being viewed. The application panel can include various subcategories of information, with the number and type of the subcategories also capable of being dynamic based on the underlying context or content.
Abstract:
A method, system, and executable instructions are provided that receive a request to change a programming channel, display, on the television screen, an on screen channel changer, the on screen channel changer comprising electronic program guide (“EPG”) information and a number input bar comprising digits, receive, from the remote control, a channel selection based on digits using the on screen channel changer, and change to the selected channel.
Abstract:
An application framework includes user interface components and TV resources which facilitate development of intelligent TV applications, including third party applications. These components and resources are complimented by one or more data services that can generally be run at a services level, to provide access to a variety of data, such as media and program metadata for one or more of local or remote sources. These data services can reside in one and more libraries within the software system components and modules. The various third party apps are further supported by a third party application support module, in conjunction with an app center application that supports various different views of the installed apps—a master view, a collection view, and a detail view.
