Abstract:
A system that includes multiple, elliptical writing spots produced by a single, integrated laser diode array head. The beams, generated by the array and shaped by beam shaping optics into the elliptical spots, are scanned across a thermal media writing plural lines at the same time. The elliptical writing spots have an energy profile and a concatenated, angular orientation and staggered arrangement that, due to the thermal interaction of the spots on the media, creates substantially Gaussian thermal profiles in the media.
Abstract:
Higher quality printing is difficult in implementation in spatial light modulator printers. The two major problems are accomplishing gray scale within the line time constraints, and eliminating staircasing artifacts within the images printed (81). It can be improved by using an alternate way of resetting cells on the spatial light modulator when data is being loaded onto the cells, timing delay (86), horizontal offset (84), and differently sized pixels (80, 82).
Abstract:
The invention is to realize an image scanning apparatus capable of achieving both high precision and high-speed scanning properties while maintaining and pursuing size and cost reductions of the apparatus. For this purpose, an image scanning apparatus having an imaging optical system for forming at least part of imaging light of an object into an image, an image sensor for performing photoelectric conversion of an optical image formed by the imaging optical system, and a moving unit for moving the optical image and the image sensor relative to each other, wherein the image sensor includes a plurality of photoelectric conversion units arranged adjacent to each other, a charge transfer unit for transferring charges generated by the plurality of photoelectric conversion units, and a charge adding unit for adding the charges transferred by the charge transfer unit, is disclosed. The image scanning apparatus includes a control unit for performing control such that the charge transfer unit transfers the charges substantially in synchronism with optical image movement by the moving unit, and the charge adding unit adds the charges from different photoelectric conversion units in accordance with a transfer operation of the charge transfer unit.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus is described for eliminating banding, misregistration and bowing by controlling a composite light intensity profile and phase shifting of a spatial location at which the composite light intensity profile crosses a xerographic threshold in a two dimensional high addressability printer operating in an overscan mode. The contrast, pitch grating and phase shifting are dependent on at least one of a predetermined amount of overlap, an exposure profile and an intensity value of each of the plurality of laser beam spots formed on the photosensitive medium of a two dimensional high addressability printer.
Abstract:
An optical beam scanning apparatus comprises means of modulating the optical power of a laser beam produced by a laser beam source, means of shaping the laser beam profile, and means of deflecting and focusing the shaped laser beam on a scanning plane. The optical power of the laser beam is varied in synchronism with the variation of the optical power distribution so that the peak level of optical power of the laser beam is kept constant. The optical power of the laser beam on the photosensitive drum is kept constant irrespective of the beam diameter, and printed dots of intended diameters can be produced, whereby fine multi-tone images can be printed stably.
Abstract:
An inspection apparatus displays a first plurality of inspection levels in a case where a first image forming apparatus is connected to the inspection apparatus. The inspection apparatus displays a second plurality of inspection levels in a case where a second image forming apparatus is connected to the inspection apparatus. An upper limit for the second plurality of inspection levels is higher than an upper limit for the first plurality of inspection levels. The inspection apparatus obtains information indicating a selection result of selecting the inspection level. The inspection apparatus determines an inspection standard based on the information. A display displays an inspection level that corresponds to the inspection standard used to determine an inspection result for an inspection item such that the inspection level is selectable from among a plurality of inspection levels.
Abstract:
A light-guide member includes a light-incident surface formed at an end portion of the light-guide member in a first direction, a light-emitting surface that is elongated in the first direction and that includes first and second light-emitting regions, which cause light to be emitted in different directions in a first cross section that is perpendicular to the first direction, a common deflecting portion that deflects light from the light-incident surface and causes the light to be emitted from the first and second light-emitting regions to the outside, and first and second protruding portions each of which is located on one of two sides of the deflecting portion in the first cross section, the first and second protruding portions protruding in a direction away from the light-emitting surface with respect to the deflecting portion.
Abstract:
An image reading device includes a first image reading portion, a cooling portion, a second image reading portion, and a notification processing portion. The first image reading portion reads an image of a document sheet at a first reading position. The cooling portion cools the document sheet at a cooling position downstream in a feeding direction of the document sheet with respect to the first reading position. The second image reading portion reads an image of the document sheet at a second reading position downstream in the feeding direction with respect to the cooling position. In a case where a difference image different from a first image read by the first image reading portion, the difference image being included in a second image read by the second image reading portion has been detected, the notification processing portion provides a notification that the difference image has been detected.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates an image correction apparatus and method. The image correction apparatus includes a printing unit for printing an image; a scratch detecting unit which detects a scratch region from a scan image scanned per line; and a restoration processing unit which performs the restoration of the scratch region by interpolation if the width of the scratch region detected by the scratch detecting unit is less than a predetermined value and, if the width thereof is not less than the predetermined value, does not perform a restoration of the scratch region but provides the printing unit with the scan image, thereby correcting an image distortion by easily detecting an image distortion due to foreign matter.
