    摘要: Apparatus to facilitate reduction and fixation of a fracture by drawing together the fracture by applying tension to a reduction wire are disclosed. These apparatus include a bone plate for the fixation of a fractured bone having a plurality of fastener openings so that the bone plate may be secured by a plurality of fasteners across a reduced fracture to fixate a reduced fracture. The bone plate is configured with a channel that receives a reduction wire so that the reduction wire may extend between the bone plate and a reduction wire mount such as a bone screw. Methods of use of the present invention include fastening the bone plate to a first side of the fracture, fastening a reduction wire mount to a second side of the fracture, fastening a reduction wire to the reduction wire mount, receiving the reduction wire in the channel, applying tension to the reduction wire to draw the bone plate and the reduction wire mount together thereby reducing the fracture, and fixating the fracture by fastening the bone plate to the second side of the fracture.

    摘要: Vertebra bodies in the human spine are stabilized through the use of minimally invasive surgery for the implantation of an elongate implant plate assembly having spaced first and second screw receiving socket elements which are configured for respective attachment to first and second spaced vertebra with the aid of bone fixation screws and these elements are slidably received with respect to each other for adjustably changing the distance between the screw receiving socket elements. A lock assembly is also provided for selectively locking the first and second screw receiving elements from further relative sliding. An elongate insertion tool is releaseably secured to the plate assembly, and the insertion tool is configured for manipulating the plate assembly as a whole and for remotely manipulating the screw receiving socket elements for adjusting the distance therebetween. The plate assembly is inserted through an incision and manipulated and advanced with the insertion tool to provide minimally invasive insertion, and after fixation of the implant assembly with bone fixation screws is further utilized by remote manipulation to adjust the degree of compression on the vertebrae, and thereafter the implant is locked in position to prevent further relative movement between the screw receiving elements of the plate assembly.

    摘要: A fixation device is provided which includes a proximal nail portion and a distal plate portion. The nail portion includes a flexible tapered section, and a rigid distal section larger in diameter and is adapted to be inserted into a medullary canal of a fractured bone. The plate portion has a low, narrow profile and includes three longitudinally displaced peg holes, each of which is adapted to orient a peg in a different orientation from the others. The plate portion is adapted to be positioned on the outside of a fractured bone when the nail portion is within the medullary canal. The device provides the benefits of both an intramedullary nail and a bone plate in a single device. The fixation device permits a minimally invasive treatment of the metaphyseal fractures that may otherwise be undertreated.
