摘要: An orthotic device for embracing and supporting a body part (e.g., articulation) of a human or animal. The orthotic device is a single sheet of moldable Polylactic Acid (PLA) material configured to maintain the body part in an optimal position for development and treatment. An orthotic system includes the PLA sheet and a protective layer in the form of a single moldable sheet of polyethylene foam (PEF). The PEF sheet is configured for placement between the PLA sheet and the body part.

摘要: An orthopedic splint system comprising self curing splinting system that is applied to an injured limb without use of water. The splint material is contained in tear resistant outer pouch and an inner protective sleeve where a water-laden gel is contained in a pouch situated in direct contact with the splint material. The liquid pouch will be torn when a longitudinal tab, which is an integral part of the pouch, is pulled out releasing the water-laden gel which will come in contact with the splint system causing it to cure.

摘要: The system invention describes an support and improved method of application and removal. The support, comprised of a network of flexible, non-porous, multi-lumen tubing interlaces at a plurality of junctions to form a lattice structure. Apertures designed to accommodate boney prominences also permit air or water to reach the skin underneath and encourage rapid fluid flow internally through the lattice. A hydrophobic, thermal-resistant, flowable padding layer is injected within a secondary lumen to the lattice structure, spanning its complete surface area. As a result, the breathability of the support is not affected by this padding layer because it mirrors the apertures of the lattice. At least one liquid is injected into the structure and configured to transform into a solid when acted on by an external mechanical stimulus.

摘要: A device comprising a casing and having an initial configuration, an intermediate configuration, and a final configuration, wherein in the initial configuration the casing contains: a plurality of beads, a rupturable first container containing one or more isocyanates and a rupturable second container containing one or more polyols. In the final configuration the casing is substantially filled by a polyurethane in which the plurality of beads is embedded. In the intermediate configuration the device is transformed from the initial configuration to the final configuration by rupturing the first container and rupturing the second container so that the one or more isocyanates react with the one or more polyols in a reaction that forms the polyurethane. As the polyurethane is formed during the reaction the polyurethane surrounds the plurality of beads. The casing includes one or more vent tubes configured to allow gases formed by the reaction to escape the casing.

摘要: Disclosed herein are antimicrobial elastic support bandages including a plurality of warp threads extending along at least a portion of the length thereof and including non-antimicrobial warp regions and antimicrobial warp regions arranged in an alternating fashion across the width thereof, wherein (a) a non-antimicrobial warp region comprises an elastic material that is stretchable in the direction of the length, (b) an antimicrobial warp region comprises (i) a flexible fiber coupled to an antimicrobial metal, and (ii) an elastic material that is stretchable in the direction of the length, wherein the flexible fiber is coupled to the elastic material, and (c) at least a portion of the warp threads are separated by about 3 microns to about 20 microns; and further including a plurality of weft threads extending across at least a portion of the width and comprising a biocompatible material, wherein at least some of the weft threads are separated by about 3 microns to about 20 microns, wherein at least a portion of the warp threads are interwoven with at least a portion of the weft threads.

摘要: A decorative splint material includes a moisture-curable material adapted to be wetted and molded into a splint configuration that conforms to an anatomical body part. The material hardens via a curing process to retain the splint configuration. The splint material includes a plurality of decorative elements integrated with the splint material. The decorative elements are provided on a substrate which is overlaid onto the moisture-curable material, and the substrate is overlaid with a flexible sheet having a plurality of openings which align with the decorative elements. The decorative elements are retained by the sheet of splint material when the sheet is wetted, molded into a splint configuration, and hardened.

摘要: A polyurethane used for orthopedics external fixing system in complex environment is obtained by reaction of mixture of polyether polyol with modified isocyanate in the weight ratio of 1:0.6-0.75. The modified isocyanate is obtained by reaction of polyphenylene polymethylene isocyanate with polyether glycol. The components and corresponding weight percent amounts of the mixture of polyether polyol are as follows: 60-65% polyether polyol; 0.3-1% catalyst; 0.1-2% foam stabilizer; 0.1-2% or 3-20% foaming agent; 25-40% filler and 0.5-2% functional auxiliary agent. The method of producing the polyurethane is also provided.

摘要: Novel composite materials, methods of producing the same and uses thereof. The composite materials which have the shape of three-dimensional object comprise a first component formed by a thermoplastic polymer selected from the group of biodegradable polyesters and mixtures thereof, and a second component formed by particles of a woody material, having a smallest dimension greater than 0.1 mm which reinforce the polyester. The material also has regions of elasticity or softness to provide for objects having properties of flexibility or semi-rigidity in at least one dimension. The material semi-rigid materials can be molded and worked at temperatures below 70° C. and are suitable for splints and circumferential casts.
