摘要： Compression garments may include mitts and tightening apparatus to don, or put on, such compression garments. The mitts may be configured to receive a user's hand such that the user can move one or more portions of the garments using the mitts. The tightening apparatus may allow a user to selectively tighten or loosen the garments about the user's body portions. Once donned, the compression garments may apply pressure to one or more regions of the user's body such as, e.g., arm regions, shoulder regions, torso regions, and neck regions.

摘要： A medical device comprising a device that covers at least a portion of a patient's skin and has an inner surface designed to be in contact with the patient's skin. It contains a multi-ply knit fabric that contains a first knit ply and a second knit ply. The first knit ply contains a plurality of first yarns and forms the upper surface of the fabric. The second knit ply contains a plurality of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) yarns which forms the lower surface of the fabric. The first and second ply are integrated through combined portions formed by interlacing first yarns among the PTFE yarns, interlacing PTFE yarns among the first yarns, and interlacing a plurality of third yarns among the first and the PTFE yarns. The multi-ply knit fabric also contains a composition comprising at least one silver ion-containing compound on at least the upper surface of the multi-ply knit fabric.

摘要： A formable cast (100), brace (180) or splint is provided herein which comprises a padding (101), an outer shell (103) spaced apart from the padding, and a ridge (109) disposed along the perimeter of the shell. The ridge, shell and padding define an interior space (115), with a curable polymeric material disposed in the interior space. The curable polymeric material undergoes a phase transition, upon curing, from a liquid or gel phase to a substantially rigid solid phase. The cast (100), brace (180) or splint may be readily customized to the patient by fitting the cast to the patient's body, positioning the cast in the desired orientation, and curing the curable polymeric material through exposure to actinic radiation or by other suitable means.

摘要： Aspects of the invention include preforms used to be formed into an immobilizer for use with a patient. The preform includes a preform member that is formed from a thermoplastic material and a filler material. The preform member is relatively rigid at a first temperature and formable at an elevated second temperature. The preform member is opaque at the first and second temperatures. The preform also includes at least one indicator associated with the preform member. The at least one indicator is formed from a thermoplastic material and is opaque at the first temperature and translucent at the second temperature. The at least one indicator can provide a visual indication of readiness to form the preform into the immobilizer upon heating the preform member to the second temperature at which the indicator is translucent.

Brace is mountable on outside or inside of left or right knee. Brace includes a selectively activated force device for exerting pressure directly by pushing at a joint line of a knee or indirectly by pulling on a knee strap wrapped around knee and force device. A base, adjacent to the force device, at least partially resists pressure of force device, and is adjacent a flexor that allows knee flexing when brace is worn. Extensions connect flexor with base and force device to thigh and calf attachment straps. A knee strap may be used with force device. Knee strap has opening to fit over patella and straps for wrapping around knee without hampering knee flexion.

摘要： In a casting apparatus for external skeletal and joint fixation, a plurality of articulated segments may comprise a plurality of cuboid members threaded on a continuous cord having distal ends connected to actuators. The cuboid members may be disposed between guide members threaded on the cord. Actuation of the actuators applies a tension force to the cord, thereby compressing the cuboid members together to form rigid cuboid segments and maintain the casting apparatus in a rigid configuration for skeletal and joint fixation.
