A hand-held liquid herbicide applicator for wipingly applying the liquid herbicide on undesired vegetation. The applicator includes an elongated tubular handle for containing a supply of the liquid herbicide with a valve at the lower end of the handle to control the flow of herbicide from the handle to an applicator head carried on the bottom of the handle. The applicator head includes a demountable sponge of special configuration in that it has a porous relatively dense skin which causes even and complete saturation of the entire sponge to prevent uncontrollable liquid flow in one or more localized parts of the sponge.

An apparatus for transferring liquid onto the surface of a roller for ultimate transfer onto plants, and a method of constructing a storage tank component of the apparatus. A sponge is disposed in a housing adjacent a roller so that the sponge extends outwardly from the housing into contact with the roller periphery. Liquid is dripped onto the sponge, and excess liquid drains through openings in the bottom of the housing into the storage tank. The storage tank is formed by two plastic pipes bent at a middle portion with an opening between them at the apex of the bend of the top pipe. The top pipe is cut-off to provide an open top complimentary to the sponge housing bottom. Liquid from the tank is recirculated back to the pipe dripping liquid onto the sponge.

There is disclosed electronic apparatus for devitalizing a band of cells girdling a tree trunk to cause the death of an unwanted tree or other plant, including a source of radio-frequency energy, and first and second r.f. electrical couplers to the stem or trunk of the plant or tree; preferably such couplers are flexible chains or the like and are caused to encircle the tree by a first actuator which closes jaws of a portable portion of the apparatus around the tree and a second actuator which draws the flexible couplers snug against the trunk of the tree. Death of the plant is believed caused primarily by devitalization of a band of cells girdling the stem of the plant and in particular the cambium cell layers are devitalized by being elevated in temperature by dielectric heating or induction heating effects.

The process can be incorporated into a harvester combine to convert a tailings flow prior to discharge on an agricultural field. For the mechanical destructive process, high required applied energy, noise, wear, and difficulty treating impact-resistant seeds are avoided by modifying a driven load flow via increased capability of exposure to illumination and underdriving the mechanical destructive process. This can include randomization, rarefaction and enhanced circulation.

The agricultural treatment system determines a vehicle pose of a vehicle as the vehicle moves along a path. The system identifies a first target agricultural object for treatment. Based on the determined vehicle pose, the system positions a treatment head of a first treatment unit such that a first projectile fluid may be emitted by the first treatment unit at the identified first target agricultural object. The system then causes an emitter to emit a fluid from the treatment head at the first target agricultural object.
