A substrate holding member includes a base body and a plurality of protrusions formed on a surface of the base body. Each of the protrusions includes a base portion and a protective layer, the base portion having a flat upper end surface and being made from a silicon carbide sintered compact, the protective layer being made of silicon carbide. The protective layer includes a region on at least a part of the base portion from an edge of the upper end surface to a lower end of the base portion, the region being exposed along an entire periphery. Preferably, the protective layer is formed so as to cover at least only a part of an upper portion of the base portion, the upper portion including the upper end surface.

Each metal terminal includes a forward end portion electrically connected to an electrode portion, a central portion, and a lead wire connection portion. The forward end portion or the central portion is held by the separator. The central portion and the lead wire connection portion are connected to each other through a neck portion. The rearward-facing rearmost surface of the central portion is engaged with a forward-facing surface of the separator, and the circumferential length of a first connection portion between the central portion and the neck portion is longer than the circumferential length of a second connection portion between the lead wire connection portion and the neck portion.

    摘要: Disclosed is a stacked-type plate-shaped sensor element for detecting the concentration of a specific gas component in a gas under measurement. The sensor element includes: a first ceramic layer; a pair of measurement and reference electrodes stacked on a front end part of the first ceramic layer; a through hole formed through at least the first ceramic layer in a rear end side of the sensor element; a through hole conductor disposed on an inner wall of the through hole; a porous reference lead extending between the reference electrode and the through hole conductor; a gas-impermeable second ceramic layer arranged on the first ceramic layer to cover at least the reference lead; and a ventilation portion provided, in the form of a hollow space or a porous substance, between the first and second ceramic layers at a position facing the through hole and communicating with the reference lead.
