Abstract:
The present invention relates to a power and risk score calibrator which includes segment pricing power and risk reconcilers, a segment cartographer, segment power and risk aggregators, pricing power and risk value comparers, and pricing power and risk value calibrators. The reconcilers receive quantitative power and risk scores for each quantitative segment, and receive qualitative power and risk scores for each qualitative segment. The qualitative segment and the qualitative power and risk scores are defined by a user. The cartographer generates consolidated segments. The aggregators may then generate consolidated power and risk scores for each of the consolidated segments, respectively. The comparers then reconcile gaps between the qualitative power and risk scores and the consolidated power and risk scores. From these reconciliations adjustment factors are generated, which are applied by pricing power and risk value calibrators. The calibrators may also perform a drill down to explain the gap between the qualitative scores and the consolidated scores.
Abstract:
The invention provides apoptosis signaling kinase related kinase (ASKRK) nucleic acid and polypeptide sequences and methods of using such sequences to identify modulators of ASKRK. Such modulators can be used for the treatment of diabetes or for delaying the onset of diabetes. The invention also provides methods of diagnosing diabetes or pre-diabetes and methods of making a prognosis based on the detection of ASKRK nucleic acids and proteins.
Abstract:
A control system comprising a timer based controller and a valve wherein the timer-based controller has a fixed period and the timer based controller regularly cycles the valve between a first condition and a second condition with the first portion of the cycle directing a first flow of water through a dispensable material and the remaining portion of the cycle directing a lesser flow of water through the dispensable material.
Abstract:
A water treatment device, method and system with the water treatment device having a container for holding a water treatment material therein with the water treatment device including a shroud extending in a direction generally normal to a flow of debris laden water with the shroud inhibiting direct flow of debris into a water inlet in the water treatment device by directing water and debris over the shroud and around the water treatment device while a portion of the water can be directed laterally into the water treatment material within the water treatment device to thereby purify the water that flows over the water treatment materials with the water treatment device including multiple spaced and positioned water inlets so that the likelihood of the water inlet being completely obstructed is remote.
Abstract:
A vehicle snowplow system with an adjustable-bias tripping mechanism. The system includes a snowplow blade or moldboard which is pivotally mounted to a frame, the latter being adapted for mounting to a vehicle. The moldboard "trips" or pivotally moves between a normal plowing position and a displaced position when a lower region of the moldboard contacts a rigid obstruction. The system includes at least one biasing assembly operable to bias the moldboard toward the normal position with a biasing force, the biasing assembly configured so as to provide an adjustment to the biasing force to compensate for variances in roadway or environmental conditions.
Abstract:
A core structure, apparatus, and method which utilize laser bonding to fabricate the core structure. The core structure is characterized by laser bonds in patterns between adjacent sheets of aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium foil which create honeycomb core structures when the bonded stack of sheets is expanded by the application of tensional forces thereto. The apparatus achieves the fabrication of the core structure and the steps of the method are practised by either hand or utilization of the apparatus.
Abstract:
A high pressure discharge lamp with a thermally improved anode, as well as a method of making such a lamp, are disclosed. The lamp includes a refractory arc tube with a hermetically sealed arc chamber, a fill in the arc chamber for facilitating light generation, and an anode and a cathode extending into the hermetically sealed arc chamber and being spaced apart from each other. The anode comprises a shank of refractory metal, a cylindrically shaped refractory metal sleeve on a portion of the shank, and an end proximally facing the cathode. The anode end comprises a substantially solid mass of refractory metal, and is integrally joined to both the shank and the metal sleeve to facilitate heat flow from the anode end to the shank and sleeve. The anode end preferably is generally shaped as a hemisphere facing the cathode. The refractory metal sleeve is preferably one or more layers of a helically wound refractory metal wire having an outer diameter more than twice a diameter of the shank.
