Abstract:
A communication system includes an earth station configured to receive a downlink transmission from a satellite and transmit an uplink transmission to the satellite. The communication system further includes a server in operable communication with the earth station, a beacon detector in operable communication with the server, an access point configured to operate within a proximity of the earth station, and a beacon transmitter disposed within close proximity to the access point. The beacon transmitter is configured to transmit a beacon signal to one or more of the server and the beacon detector. The beacon signal uniquely identifies the access point. The server is configured to implement a measurement-based protection scheme with respect to at least one of the downlink transmission and the uplink transmission.

Abstract:
A method for detecting aggressive signal transmission signatures in a wireless communication network is provided. The network includes at least one cooperative device, an access point, and at least one non-cooperative device. The method includes steps of generating a matrix of at least 8 bits configured to register each instance of at least one of a clear-to-send frame and a request-to-send frame transmitted between the at least one cooperative device and the access point during a specified duration, calculating a cumulative distribution function based on the registered instances within the generated matrix for a probability of the presence of an aggressive transmission signal by the at least one non-cooperative device within a measurable vicinity of one or more of the cooperative device and the access point, and determining the presence of the aggressive transmission signal based on the calculated cumulative distribution function being greater than a predetermined threshold.
Abstract:
Multi-link transportation of media, video and other data of the type having multiple layers, streams and/or encodings is contemplated. The multi-link transportation may be facilitated with a scheduler configured to schedule the various layers, streams, encodings, etc. for transportation over selectable communication links, such as based on reliability, capacity and/or other operating characteristics.
Abstract:
Systems and methods presented herein provide for optimizing or otherwise improving capacity in a communication network. In one embodiment, a method is operable in a network hub that is communicatively coupled to UEs via a plurality of communication links. Each communication link has a different data rate capacity and each UE comprises a profile that indicates its data rate capabilities (e.g., modulation schemes and the like). The method includes detecting communications of the UEs, determining the data rate capabilities of the UEs from their profiles, and determining how many different data rate capacities the network hub supports over the communication links. The method also includes grouping the UEs according to their data rate capabilities, generating a common profile for each UE group, and assigning the communication links to the UE groups based on their common profiles.
Abstract:
Systems and methods presented herein provide for improved duplex communications in an RF cable network comprising a plurality of CMs. In one embodiment, a system includes a CMTS operable to transmit downstream communications to the CMs and to process upstream communications from the CMs. The system also includes a duplex RF communication path between the CMTS and the CMs. The CMTS is further operable to transmit a control signal that directs a first of the CMs to transmit, to direct the remaining CMs to receive the transmission from the first CM, to direct the CMs to report received power levels of the transmission from the first CM, and to calculate RF isolations of the remaining CMs with respect to the first CM based on the reported power levels.

Abstract:
Systems and methods presented herein provide for altering communications of a LTE wireless communication system operating in an RF band with a conflicting WiFi system. In one embodiment, an LTE system includes a wireless base station operable to transmit downlink communications to a UE in the RF band and to receive uplink communications from the UE in the RF band. The LTE system also includes a processor operable to detect the uplink communications from the UE, to estimate a location of the UE based on the detected uplink communications, to determine a communication capability between the UE and the wireless base station based on the location of the UE, and to downgrade the downlink communications from the wireless base station to the UE based on the determined communication capability to avoid interference with the WiFi communication system.
Abstract:
A cable modem is provided in a premises. The cable modem is operated in a first mode with a first upstream passband. At least one fusible link in the cable modem is caused to be blown, which in turn causes the cable modem to upgrade to a second mode with a second upstream passband, greater than the first upstream passband, without use of any switch.
Abstract:
Correction of errors within over-the-air signaling is contemplated. The error correction may include correcting over-the-air signaling used to facilitate transmitting content, broadcast television, etc. according to error correction data transmitted separately from the over-the-air signaling. A receiver may be configured to process the over-the-air signaling according to the error correction data so as to facilitate the contemplated error correction.
