    摘要： A solid state soft start controller system has a power supply, an electric motor, a thyristor electrically interconnected between the power supply and the electric motor so as to selectively allow current to pass from the power supply to the phases of the electric motor, a laser diode optically connected to the thyristor, and a controller connected to the laser diode for triggering the laser diode. Separate thyristors are connected to each phase of the polyphase electric motor. Separate laser diodes and associated light pipes connect the laser diode to the separate thyristors.

    摘要： A video display apparatus includes a cathode ray tube and a high voltage transformer. The high voltage transformer incorporates a high voltage winding for producing an anode voltage in the cathode ray tube. The high voltage winding has a tap which provides a focus voltage for the electron gun assembly of the cathode ray tube. The transformer also includes a primary winding which is included in a resonant circuit. A third winding has a second portion that is wound to be closely coupled to the portion of the high voltage winding not associated with the generation of focus voltage. The third winding is coupled between the primary winding and a capacitor to produce a current that controls a variation of a ratio between the focus voltage and the anode voltage as a function of variation in a beam current in the cathode ray tube.

    摘要： In a projection television receiver, a common switch mode power supply energizes the convergence circuits, and other load circuits of the projection television receiver. In normal operation, a switch couples a supply voltage produces in the common switch mode power supply to the convergence circuits. When, as a result of a fault, a supply current in the convergence circuits is excessive, the common switch mode power supply is decoupled from the convergence circuits and other load circuits remain energized and operative.

    摘要： A paper towel holder includes a base with a central aperture and a hollow spindle extending up from the base. A flexible disc is secured to the underside of the base and has a substantially flat bottom surface. A central aperture extends through the disc and communicates with the hollow interior of the spindle. A valve stem is slidably mounted in the spindle. The value stem will fall gravitationally into sealing engagement with portions of the disc surrounding the central aperture so that the central aperture is sealed. In this condition, any attempt to tilt or lift the paper towel holder will create a partial vacuum beneath the disc that will resist such lifting or tilting. However, the valve stem can be lifted up relative to the remainder of the towel holder to open the aperture in the disc. No partial vacuum will exist below the disc and the paper towel holder can be moved easily.

    摘要： An image processing system for imaging a scene to mosaic, selecting a new viewpoint of the scene, and rendering a synthetic image from the mosaic of the scene from that new viewpoint. The synthesized image is then combined with a second image. The combination of the second image and the synthetic image generates a composite image containing a realistic combination of objects in the second image and the scene. Using this system, a production set or other scene need only be created once, then imaged by the system. Thereafter, through image processing, any view of the scene can be synthesized and combined with separately imaged performers or other objects to generate the composite image. As such, a production set or other scene can be repetitively reused without recreating the physical scene.

    摘要： The invention provides novel methods for screening a sample to select a ligand to a target of interest and for obtaining information about the ligand and its binding characteristics. Specifically, the claimed multi-dimensional methods involve combining a solution of heterogeneous ligands with the target of interest to screen the ligands on the basis of one or more binding characteristics. Ligands having the first binding characteristic bind to the target of interest thereby to form a target/ligand complex. The complex then optionally is separated from the unbound components using any of a variety of separation techniques, e.g., size exclusion. At least one of the complex or unbound components then is introduced to a second “dimension”. The second dimension is capable of separating components based upon a second binding characteristic. One then elutes the ligand having the desired binding characteristics.
