An injector with an adjustable-metering servo valve is provided. The injector has a shutter actuated by an armature of an electromagnet. The armature is mobile for an opening stroke defined by a surface of the core of the electromagnet, which is fixed in the casing by a ring nut and a hollow support of the core. The hollow support has a first contact surface that acts on a flange of the core. Set between the surface and a shoulder of the casing is a shim. An annular projection, having a second contact surface, is set between the surface and a shoulder of the casing. The second contact surface is contained at least in part in the area corresponding to the first contact surface so that the stroke of the armature is adjusted by plastic deformation of the shim or of the surface of the core.

A fuel-injection system in an internal-combustion engine is provided with an electroinjector (1) comprising an injection nozzle (5), and a needle (7) mobile along an opening stroke and a closing stroke for opening/closing the nozzle (5) under the control of an electroactuator device (8). The opening stroke of the needle (7) is controlled by a rod (14) pushed by the pressure of the fuel in a control chamber (15), in such a way as to keep the needle (7) normally in the position for closing the nozzle (5). The control chamber (15) is equipped with an inlet duct (18) having a pre-set diameter (D4) and with an outlet passage (24) having a diameter (D5) and controlled by a control valve (16). The method for controlling fuel injection comprises the steps of choosing the ratio (D5/D4) of the aforesaid diameters so as to determine a certain rate of displacement of the needle (7), and issuing to the device (8) a first electrical command (C1) and a second electrical command (C2) sufficiently close to one another to displace the needle (7) with a profile of motion (P) without any discontinuities in time.

The pump (7) is provided with a body (16) having a compartment (17), and with at least one pumping element (13) that moves in a cylinder (12) in communication with the compartment (17), to raise the pressure of the fuel. The pump (7) comprises fluid-supply means (14, 22) for delivering the fuel to the pumping element (13), and an inlet mouth (26) made in the body (16) and supplied with the fuel coming directly from an external source (2). The inlet mouth (26) is fluidically connected to the compartment (17) to supply it with the fuel in order to lubricate and/or cool the pump (7) itself. Set between the inlet mouth (26) and the compartment (17) are: a non-return valve (33) to prevent in any case the pumping elements (13) from sucking the fuel from the compartment (17) of the body (16); and a flow regulator (29′), which allows an amount of fuel to pass such as to enable proper lubrication and cooling of the compartment (17) and of the parts present in the compartment (17). The fluid-supply means (14, 22) comprise at least one further inlet mouth (24) made in the body (16) and fluidically connected with the pumping element (13) by means of pipes (9).

In a gas-supply system for internal-combustion engines, a pressure-reducing valve is set between the reservoir of the gas and a distribution manifold or rail that feeds the gas to a series of electromagnetically controlled injectors associated to the various cylinders of the engine. The pressure-reducing valve has a piston member that faces a chamber set downstream of a restricted passage defined inside the body of the valve in communication between the inlet connector and the outlet connector. The piston member is pushed by thrust means towards a position in which it causes opening of an open/close element (valve head) that controls the communication between said restricted passage and the inlet connector. The piston member is preferably provided with a single seal gasket that prevents leakage of gas towards the outside through the sliding coupling of the piston member within the respective guide bushing. The thrust means to which the piston member is subject may be constituted by spring means, or else by a pilot-pressure signal, in the case where it is intended to obtain a variable reduction of the pressure according to the operating conditions of the system.

The electrical connector has a body made of synthetic material or of elastomer material directly moulded on one or more conductor pins so as to guarantee hermetic sealing of the tank even in the presence of a pressure jump between the internal cavity of the tank and the external environment. In the case where the body of the connector is made of synthetic material, it bears seats for seal rings made of elastomer material. In the case where it is made of elastomer material, it guarantees directly the function of tightness. In either case, there are provided means for exerting an axial compressive force on the part that performs the tightness function.
