    摘要: A device for closing zippers on plastic bags, the device being separable from the bags to enable repeated usage. The closing device is adapted to function as an extension of the finger-thumb action. It comprises a generally inverted U-shaped channel for receiving the interlocking elements of the zipper with the opposing legs of the device being resilient and engageable toward one another to press the interlocking zipper elements together. A guide is formed in the legs to align the zipper elements. Projections opposite the guide aid in giving a sense to the user of aligning of the guide with the zipper elements.

    摘要: Graphical information, such as a structural chemical formulae, composed of nodes and links between the nodes, or in a chemical formula ring positions and bonds, are coded by means of logic circuits responsive to actuation of a keyboard. The graphical data coded in binary digit form are stored, while contents of the store are scanned, decoded and applied in analog form to a display device. When recorded on a suitable medium they are made machine readable, for searching or similar processing. A luminous cursor indicates on the display the part of a structural formula that is subject to the next keyboard action. The store is organized about fixed display locations available as nodes. Alphanumeric characters identify atoms at nodes. Single, double or triple bonds in any of eight directions from a node towards another node may be registered and displayed. A cursor address register, a store address register and a comparator are used. Registering at one node a bond designated by character and direction transfers the cursor to the node at the other end of the designated bond. Other transfers of the cursor may be effected by the space bar with the use of the appropriate directional keyed instruction.

    摘要: An up-cutting knife that has particular application for minimally invasive spinal surgical procedures. The knife includes an elongated tube that is operable to be inserted through a tubular retractor used in minimally invasive surgical procedures. One end of the elongated tube includes a curved head portion having a cutting blade formed on a top surface thereof and a suction port, and an opposite end of the tube is coupled to a handle having a chamber. A suction device can be coupled to an outlet port in the handle that causes blood and other surgical material to be drawn through the tube and out of the handle.

    摘要: A collection device for collecting bone material during a spinal fusion surgical procedure so that the bone material can later be used as a graft material for the fusion procedure. The device includes a container that collects the bone and other material that is removed from the patient during the surgical procedure through a suction hose. The device includes a plunger having a filter plate sealed to the inside of the container. The plunger is pushed down into the collected material in the container so that blood and other liquids are forced through the plate to be separated from the bone material. A cover at the bottom of the container can be removed to remove the collected bone material.

    摘要: A mechanism for isolating failures in a digital system is provided. In one embodiment, a fault table is defined for each unit in the system. Related faults are ordered within the table to reflect the time-order in which the faults would be activated during operation of the associated unit. When multiple related faults are reported for a given unit in the system, the fault that is first located when a linear search of the corresponding fault table is conducted is considered the source of the failure within the unit. If faults are reported for multiple units, the source of the failure for the system is identified using at least one of primary and second priority values assigned to the faults, timestamps obtained when the faults are reported, and an order in which the faults are logged.
