Abstract: Damage to a flexible display can be prevented. A display device having improved mechanical strength can be provided. A display device (10) includes a display panel (11) and a protection cover (12). The display panel (11) includes a first portion having flexibility. The protection cover (12) has a light-transmitting property and flexibility and is provided to overlap with a display surface side of the display panel (11). The display device (10) has a function of being reversibly changed in shape to a first mode in which the display panel (11) and the protection cover (12) are each substantially flat and a second mode in which the first portion of the display panel (11) is curved such that the display surface side becomes a concave surface and part of the protection cover (12) is curved in the same direction as the first portion. In the second mode, there is a gap between the first portion and the protection cover.

Abstract: A method for fabricating a display device that easily achieves higher resolution is provided. A display device having both high display quality and high resolution is provided. A first EL film is formed over a first pixel electrode and a second pixel electrode; a first sacrificial film is formed to cover the first EL film; the first sacrificial film and the first EL film are etched to expose the second pixel electrode and to form a first EL layer over the first pixel electrode and a first sacrificial layer over the first EL layer; and the first sacrificial layer is removed. The first EL film and the second EL film are etched by dry etching, and the first sacrificial layer is removed by wet etching.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a display apparatus having high display quality is provided. A method for manufacturing a display apparatus including first to third insulators, first and second conductors, and first and second EL layers is provided. The first conductor is formed over the first insulator, and the second insulator is formed over the first insulator and over the first conductor. A first opening portion reaching the first conductor is formed in the second insulator. A sacrificial layer is formed over the second insulator and over a bottom surface of the first opening portion, and a resist is applied over the sacrificial layer. Light exposure and development are performed on the resist, so that a second opening portion reaching the sacrificial layer is formed in a region overlapping with the first conductor. A third opening portion is formed in a region of a bottom surface of the second opening portion, and the first EL layer is formed over the resist, over the sacrificial layer, and over the first conductor. Then, the resist and the sacrificial layer are removed, whereby the first EL layer over the resist and over the sacrificial layer is removed. The second EL layer is formed over the first EL layer and over the second insulator, and the second conductor and the third insulator are formed in order over the second EL layer.

Abstract: A display device that enables a user to see a bright image is provided. In the display device, a first substrate, a light-emitting element, an insulating layer, a coloring layer, a planarization layer, a plano-convex lens, a resin layer, and a second substrate are stacked in this order from the bottom. The plano-convex lens is curved outwards in the upper direction of the display device. A convex portion of the plano-convex lens is in contact with a resin layer, and the refractive index of the resin layer is lower than the refractive index of the plano-convex lens. Light emitted by the light-emitting element is converged in the forward direction by the plano-convex lens.

The common layer includes a portion overlapping with the first pixel electrode, a portion overlapping with the second pixel electrode, and a portion overlapping with the conductive layer. The common electrode includes a portion overlapping with the first pixel electrode and a portion overlapping with the second pixel electrode. The first wiring is provided over a surface different from the surface where the conductive layer is provided.

The other pixel includes a photoelectric conversion device and a second microlens. The second microlens is interposed between the base material and the photoelectric conversion and converges external light incident from the base material side. The second microlens includes a third surface and a fourth surface; the third surface is closer to the photoelectric conversion device than the fourth surface is; and the fourth surface has a smaller radius of curvature than the third surface.
