摘要: A method of manufacturing high-quality preforms from glass melt, manufacturing glass elements, such as lenses, by press molding these preforms and, manufacturing optical elements by reheating and press molding these glass gobs. In the method glass gobs are continuously separated from a glass melt flow continuously flowing out of a nozzle and the separated glass gobs are formed with glass forming members that are intermittently or continuously moving. A support member is made to approach the front end of the nozzle, the front end of the glass melt flow is received by the support member, and the support member is dropped more rapidly than the rate of flow of the glass melt flow to separate a glass gob from the glass melt flow. The separated glass gob is transferred from the support member to a stopped or moving glass forming member to mold a glass article.

摘要: By pouring, by means of pressure, melted liquid of magnesium or magnesium alloy into a hollow portion which is formed using a casting mold, a valve body where a channel groove for hydraulic oil for use in a speed change operation of the automatic transmission is formed. In the above, the channel grove for the hydraulic oil is formed due to a convex portion which is formed on the mold so as to project into the hollow portion. As the magnesium has small heat capacity, variation of the temperature of the mold during the cooling and heating cycle can be suppressed. Moreover, as the magnesium melted liquid has no reactivity with respect to the casting mold, the convex portion is not deteriorated. This allows employment of a mold having a thinner convex portion formed thereon, and therefore formation of a valve body having a narrower channel groove.

摘要: An intake manifold air leak determination system and method for an internal combustion engine including an intake manifold fluidly connected to a plurality of cylinders of the engine and a plurality of fuel injection valves for injecting fuel for the cylinders. Each of the plurality of fuel injection valves corresponds to a respective one of the plurality of cylinders. A fuel cutoff indicating module determines that fuel has been cut from one or more of said plurality of cylinders due to certain operating conditions of the internal combustion engine. An air leak detection module determines whether a significant air leak is occurring at the intake manifold. An air leak fuel cutoff module cuts off fuel supply to the fuel injection valves when the air leak detection module determines that a significant air leak is occurring at the intake manifold. An air leak detection prohibiting module prohibits detection of an air leak at the intake manifold when the fuel cutoff indicating module indicates that fuel has been cut from one or more of the plurality of cylinders.

摘要: A failsafe hydraulic circuit designed to avoid simultaneous engagement of two friction engagement elements (e.g., clutches, brakes, etc.) incorporated in a speed change apparatus of a motor vehicle or the like. If a first failsafe valve is in the open position state and a first engaging pressure is supplied to a first hydraulic servo via the first failsafe valve, the first engaging pressure is also input to a first oil pressure switch via a second failsafe valve being in the closed position state. Therefore, using the first oil pressure switch, it can be detected that the first engaging pressure is supplied to the first hydraulic servo. Furthermore, if the first engaging pressure is, for example, greater than the set pressure of the first oil pressure switch, this situation can also be detected. Such detections provide confirmation of normal operation of the first failsafe valve and the second failsafe valve.

摘要: An air-fuel ratio control system for an internal combustion engine includes an ECU which cuts off fuel supply to the engine at deceleration thereof, measures a fuel cut-off period over which the fuel cut-off means cuts off fuel supply to the engine, and enriches the air-fuel ratio of a mixture supplied to the engine to a degree dependent upon the measured fuel cut-off period, at the restart of fuel supply to the engine immediately after termination of cutting-off of fuel supply to the engine. When a second cutting-off of fuel supply to the engine is carried out within a predetermined time period after the restart of fuel supply to the engine immediately after termination of a first cutting-off of fuel supply to the engine, the ECU sets the degree of enriching the air-fuel ratio of the mixture supplied to the engine according to the sum of a first fuel cut-off period over which the first cutting-off of fuel supply to the engine lasted and a second fuel cut-off period over which the second cutting-off of fuel supply to the engine lasted.

摘要: A method for manufacturing a glass substrate for magnetic disk is provided in which a glass is kept from being fused to a mold during press forming and shape processing to achieve a good circularity is efficiently performed. The method includes: a forming process of forming a disk-shaped glass blank by direct-pressing a molten glass by a pair of dies; and a shape processing process of performing at least one of inner hole formation and outer shape formation for forming a disk-shaped glass substrate by forming a cutting line on the principal face of the glass blank, followed by growing the cutting line to perform cutting. In the forming process, press forming is performed while the temperature of the pair of dies, over a period of time until a molten glass is separated from the die after coming into contact with the die, is set at a temperature lower than a glass transition point (Tg) and a mold release material is not attached to the surfaces of the pair of dies.
