摘要: In case of consecutive transmission of a large amount of data such as dynamic image data, a multi-media storage system of the invention generates and transmits data stored in a faulty disk drive when one of a plurality of disk drives being faulty caused by an internal calibration or an error of the disk drive and the faulty disk drive does not respond within a predetermined length of time set in a timeout table. The multi-media storage system cancels an access to the faulty disk drive, generates data to be read from the faulty disk drive based on data stored in the other disk drives of the plurality of disk drives and the redundant data and continues to transmit data.

摘要: A charging method within a glass tube using a direct current of low voltage is provided in order to obtain a small fluorescent lamp with a light emission of high luminance. Two distinct discharges are achieved through use of one negative electrode. The filament-like negative electrode is arranged at a short spaced relation to a positive electrode at one end of the glass tube and upon application of the direct current voltage becomes the preliminary discharge. A second positive electrode is positioned at the opposite end of the glass tube and has a greater-spaced relation to the negative electrode resulting in the second discharge.

摘要: An exhaust apparatus for controlling the timing of exhaust operation in two-cycle engines including a pivotally mounted plate positioned in a recess in the upper surface of an exhaust passage. The plate includes a shaft bearing portion above the pivot axis of substantial strength. A plate extending from that bearing portion is reduced in thickness with a upwardly extending ridge at the outer end thereof to define a control surface and sealing mechanism for the plate. The cooperation between the exhaust port and the end of the valve body may be arranged for maximum sealing and maximum wall thickness of the surrounding port.

摘要: A sensor is provided in a hospital bed having a bed-mat made of movable particles. This sensor is to detect an excessive bead temperature in the case of a controller malfunction and to control the operation of a cooler. In the sensor, the circuit is so designed that an air compressor runs intermittently with the aid of timers while the sensor performs its functions at a temperature above the predetermined temperature level. The sensor also enables the compressor to run again when the temperature of the mat lowers to a level where a normal operation is possible to assure temperature control of the bed-mat even in the case of controller malfunctions.

摘要: A shock absorber has expansion and compression damping characteristics readily adjustable, if required, to different extents. In one preferred form, it includes an adjustable orifice associated with a piston, and the orifice includes an annular flexible valve element and a valve-seat member engageable with the inner peripheral edge thereof. The valve-seat member is formed at the bottom with feet which are arranged opposite to a stepped or continuously inclined annular top surface portion of the piston and is axially movable for engagement with the latter. The amount of axial movement of the valve-seat member and hence that of deflection of the valve element is adjustable by rotation of the valve-seat member relative to the piston through provision therefor at the top of the cylinder. In an alternative form, the shock absorber has an expansion and a compression damping mechanism separately incorporated therein, including an externally adjustable valve mechanism arranged in the bottom of the cylinder in addition to the one associated with the piston. In this instance, the cylinder is received in a tubular casing for rotation relative thereto.

摘要: A hydraulic shock absorber of the type having a cylinder and a piston with axial passages therethrough. The piston is mounted to slide within the cylinder. Valve plates having orifices therethrough are provided to control flow through the axial passages of the piston. Certain of the valve plates are situated to operate together with a variable effective orifice on the downstream side of the axial passages and to act with a fixed effective orifice as check valve plates when the flow is reversed. The composite valve thus defined offers a smooth and properly sloping velocity-resistance curve. The shock absorber also includes a foot valve assembly controlling flow between the interior of the cylinder and an annular oil reservoir outside the cylinder. The foot valve assembly may have two check valves for controlling flow through two sets of foot valve passages or it may employ a check valve spring which changes from a "V" shape to a flat shape to cover orifices in a check valve plate.

摘要: A speed changing position regulating device for a motorcycle, having a speed changing operating means (60) for a transmission gear for changing over speed changing positions by the operation of a shift pedal (30) operatively connected with the speed changing operating means (60). A link mechanism (40, 50, 80, 110) is operated through connecting means (165, 170) by the rise and fall of a stand (160) so that, when the stand rises, the shift position of the speed changing operating means may be changed over to a neutral position by the link mechanism operated by the connecting means and the speed changing operating means may be held in the neutral position.

摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a photoconductor; a charger, an exposure device, a developing device, a transferor, a cleaner, a belt resistance sensing device, and a transfer bias applier. The charger charges a surface of the photoconductor with a charge of a single polarity. The exposure device irradiates the surface of the photoconductor with light after charging. The developing device supplies a developer to the surface of the photoconductor. The transferor transfers an image developed by the developing device, from the surface of the photoconductor onto an intermediate transfer belt. The cleaner cleans the developer remaining on the surface of the photoconductor after an image transfer by the transferor. The sensing device is provided for the transferor, to detect a resistance value from a current value flowing during application of a transfer bias. The bias applier controls, according to the resistance value detected, the transfer bias applied to the transferor.
