Abstract:
The invention includes a screening assay for the identification of agents that inhibit the interaction of p53 with p53 inhibitory polypeptides, and p53 inhibitory polypeptide variants that are inactive with respect to the inhibition of p53 activity.
Abstract:
A display device includes a main body and a housing. The main body includes a control unit. The housing includes a command input unit associated with the housing. The command input is replaceable piece of equipment. The command input unit includes a plurality of pins for generating the control signals in response to operations of a user, each of the pins being designated with an identifier. The number of pins is dependent on the particular command input unit selected by a user. The control unit identifies the control signals and performs the corresponding functions through the identifiers. The functions include turning on the display device, turning off the display device, obtaining corresponding OSD data, displaying an OSD menu, and adjusting parameters of the display device.
Abstract:
We describe a method to diagnose and treat an animal, preferably a human, suffering from a condition, typically cancer, that would benefit from a stimulation of apoptosis in tumour cells and including screening methods to identify new chemotherapeutic agents.
Abstract:
The invention relates to methods for determining a subject's susceptibility to cytotoxic drug therapy, by determining what polymorphic form of p53 the subject expresses. Also, a part of the invention are methods for identifying susceptible subjects, by assaying for mutated forms of p53. Therapeutic approaches based on this are also contemplated.
Abstract:
The invention relates to polypeptides that bind to the oncogene product mdm2 and the uses of the identified polypeptides in therapeutic compositions to treat aberrant cell division in humans.
Abstract:
A method for synchronously implementing media switch in gateways used for IP FAX is disclosed. The method comprises sending a message for notification of fax event from a media gateway which firstly detects a fax event to the other media gateway of the fax event; implementing a media switch in the media gateway which firstly detects the fax event into fax mode; implementing a media switch in the other media gateway of the fax event into fax mode after receiving said message for notification of fax event. Therefore, the method of the invention overcomes the disadvantages of the related art and more particularly prevents fax failure due to difference of routing for a born network and cross-domain. The IP FAX used by the method of the invention can be applied broadly as the method also improves compatibility and reliability for IP FAX.
Abstract:
A coated sheet-like plastics material comprising a) as base, a thermoplastic substrate; and b) on the base, a photocatalytically active coating comprising a water-spreading layer which involves either a sol-adhesion-promoter layer, layer b1+2), comprising an adhesion promoter and a colloid sol, or a colloid-sol layer b2) arranged on an adhesion-promoter layer b1) applied on the substrate a), and a photocatalytically active layer b3) arranged on the water-spreading layer b1+2) or b2), where b3) is obtainable through application and drying of a mixture comprising, based on the solids content of the mixture in percent by weight b31) from 1 to 25% of titanium dioxide and b32) from 75 to 99% of silicon dioxide and/or of a metal oxide which is not soluble in water or of an anionically modified silicon dioxide or metal oxide; where the titanium dioxide is particulate with an average primary-particle size smaller than 10 nm. In-line process for producing said material, and also use as roofing material or as glazing material, preferably in areas with moist conditions. The coated sheet-like plastics material of the invention combines water-spreading properties with photocatalytic activity, without any damage to the thermoplastic substrates. The coated sheet-like plastics substrate of the invention is produced in a relatively uncomplicated, inexpensive and fast in-line process and, in use, provides impressive substrate stability and impressive effectiveness of the coating in resisting initial algal growth.
Abstract:
An apparatus for displaying sub page content includes a display unit, a storage unit, and a processing unit. The apparatus communicates with a network server. The processing unit obtains a webpage from the network server and one or more sub pages linked to the webpage. The display unit displays a first window for displaying label of each sub page designating a type which is binding with each sub page. The processing unit controls the display unit to display a second window for displaying the sub page content of the label displayed on the first window which is determined to be selected according to whether operation position of user's operation performed on the first window is on the area of the label of sub page displayed. A related method is also provided.
Abstract:
A method for controlling a normally closed relay includes: providing power to at least one of a first electromagnet and a second electromagnet via a power input port, then cause a first actuation member and a second actuation member to separate from each other, and the relay is then in an open state; and stopping providing power to the at lease one first electromagnet and the second electromagnet which being powered by the power input port such that the first actuation member and the second actuation member makes contact with each other, and the relay is then in a closed state.
Abstract:
A process giving a client the capability of fixing the time within which it may attempt to connect itself to a standby server and a method thereof are provided. The client records the length of time preceding every successful-connection to at least one standby server within a predetermined period, determines an average connection setup time relating to the at least one standby server calculated from all the recorded connection setup times, detects in real time whether the client is successfully connected to a master server, and switches the connection attempts of the client away to each standby server in turn, according to the average connection setup time applying to each standby server respectively, once the client has lost its connection with the master server.
