POWDERED METAL IS PLACED IN THE MOLD AND FORCED AGAINST THE FACE-FORMING DIE AND INTO THE PROVIDED SPACE, THEREBY FORMING A UNITARY ARTICLE HAVING A PREFERRED GRAIN DENSITY AT ONE OR MORE GIVEN FACE WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY PROVIDING FOR THE ACCUMULATION OF THE DISPOSABLE PORTION OF LESS DENSE METAL WHICH MAY BE REMOVED IN SUBSEQUENT OPERATIONS. In an AND gate, the amplifier is a multi-emitter transistor and the unilateral conductors are the emitter-to-base junctions of the transistor. In an OR gate, the amplifier is a transistor and the unilateral conductors are emitter-follower transistor stages coupling the respective input terminals to the emitter of the transistor amplifier.

    摘要: Apparatus for printing characters with an impact intensity varying according to the surface area of the character being printed. Included in the apparatus is a cyclically movable character bearing member, such as a rotary print wheel or drum or an endless belt and one or more print hammers cooperable with the member forming a printing couple for printing characters. An electromagnetic field produced by a solenoid initiates the flight of the hammer against a document which may be moved relatively thereto as the printing operation is performed. The current through the solenoid coil is limited by resisters of different values which are controlled by electrical gates for selectively varying the amount of current supplied to the coil for driving the hammer. The timing of the printing is kept in synchronization with the document movement by means of an electromechanical clock capable of dividing each character position into an equal number of zones. During the operation of the printing apparatus, the sequence of accessing the digits to be printed, positioning the print wheel, and firing the hammer continues as the document moves through the apparatus. Associated with the print wheel and jointly rotatable therewith is a disk having a plurality of coded positions represented by apertures therein each position representing a printing character position on the print wheel.

    摘要: The overlay of information from the computer memory to a peripheral memory and its return to the computer memory are facilitated by a unique format for original and copy descriptors. The copy descriptors have a first field that designates either a base address or the location of its original, and a second field that designates an index. The original descriptors have a field that designates the base address. The copy descriptors are automatically generated from their originals. When a copy descriptor is retrieved, the first and second fields are added to form the absolute address if the first field is the base address. If the first field is an original descriptor location, the base address of the original descriptor and the index of the copy descriptor are added to form the absolute address. Upon overlay, the copy descriptors to be updated are sensed by comparing their base value with the base value of the array to be overlaid. They are updated by substituting the original descriptor location for the base address and the original descriptors are updated by substituting the peripheral memory address for the base address. Upon return of the overlaid information to the computer memory, only the original descriptor must be updated.
