摘要:
A method for allocating corresponding identity (ID) to each of a plurality of base station controllers (BSC) and each of a plurality of base transceiver stations (BTS) in an international mobile telecommunication-2000 (IMT-2000) system including the plurality of BSCS, the plurality of BTSs and an OMC (OMC=operating and maintenance center) for managing the plurality of BSCs and the plurality of BTSs includes the steps of: by the OMC, determining if system initialization is performed; if the system initialization is not performed, going to the step a), otherwise by the OMC, transmitting BSC ID allocation data to all the BSCs coupled to the OMC and allocating corresponding specific BSC identities (IDs) and corresponding group IDs to all BSCs; by each of the plurality of BSCs, receiving the BSC ID allocation data from the OMC and recognizing a corresponding specific BSC ID and a corresponding group ID allocated to each BSC by analyzing the BSC ID allocation data; by each of the plurality of BSCs, transmitting BTS ID allocation data to all BTSs coupled to each BSC and allocating corresponding specific BTS IDs to all the BTSs; and by each of the plurality of BTSs, receiving the BTS ID allocation data from the BSC and recognizing corresponding specific BTS IDs allocated to each BTS by analyzing the BTS ID allocation data.

A system (100) for receiving data from an asynchronous network and transmitting such data onto a synchronous network includes a voice packet buffer memory system (108) with a jitter buffer (118) having groups of entries storing data for voice channels and jitter buffer valid bit (JBVB) memory (120) for status of a particular entry for multiple jitter buffer groups. Writing or reading data from a jitter buffer entry sets a corresponding JBVB memory bit to a valid or invalid state respectively. Jitter buffer data may be read with a corresponding state memory bit. If a corresponding JBVB memory bit is valid, data from a jitter buffer (118) may be provided as an output. If a corresponding JBVB memory bit is invalid, a loss recovery algorithm may compensate for such invalid jitter buffer data.

A method for performing a handoff between an asynchronous base station and a synchronous base station. The method includes the steps of: a) setting at least one common channel between the synchronous base station and a mobile station; b) determining whether there is an asynchronous base station to be handed off in neighbor asynchronous base stations based on monitoring information of the neighbor asynchronous base stations; c) if there is no asynchronous base station, requesting a handoff to the synchronous base station and receiving a compressed mode message through the common channel; d) selecting a synchronous base station to be handed off based on the compressed mode message; and e) performing the handoff from the asynchronous base station to the synchronous base station.
摘要:
A network element (10) can retain a plurality of prefix identifiers as are used to formulate an address to be used by individual network users. Pursuant to a preferred approach, one or more of these prefix identifiers are pre-correlated to a given domain name while at least one other prefix identifier is pre-correlated to the absence of a domain name. So configured, a specific prefix identifier can be allocated for use by a given network user as a function, at least in part, of the domain name (or lack of a domain name) as may be presented by that network user when seeking to establish a network connection.

A method and system for re-direction and handoff for pre-paid mobile services in third generation (“3G”) networks. A handoff marker is created and used for wireless mobile nodes such as Mobile Internet Protocol (“Mobile IP”) nodes. The handoff markers allow the wireless mobile nodes to use pre-paid mobile services, have active communications sessions suspended and re-directed to a registration server when purchased pre-paid mobile services run-out. The registration server allows the wireless mobile node to electronically purchase additional pre-paid mobile services and immediately resume a suspended communications session. The handoff markers also allows network devices in a mobile network to determine between initiation of a new communications session or a hard handoff of an existing communication session, without adversely affecting pre-paid billing services.

A remote service forwarding (RSF) system allows the telephone service user to access the subscribed services via different access devices without the loss of service. The system allows a user to access different systems or uses dissimilar phone devices or different service providers by porting services over an IP connection. The user may access subscribed services such as Centrex or PBX services over a mobile IP connection
摘要:
A method and system for supporting, at a PDSN, simultaneous data sessions on dissimilar access networks. A PDSN has a first network communication interface for connection to a first network, a second network communication interface for connection to a second network, and a protocol abstraction routine executable by a processing unit. The PDSN can use the protocol abstraction routine to identify if a data packet is associated with a first RP transfer protocol or a second RP transfer protocol. After making the determination, the protocol abstraction routine can decapsulate or encapsulate the data packet according to the associated RP transfer protocol, for transmission to the first network or the second network.

A phase-amplitude modulator for mobile communications employs a phase lock loop as an input to a nonlinear power amplifier providing phase information with amplitude information used to modulate the power amplifier output to synthesize phase-amplitude for the RF transmission signal.

A method for discriminating and interworking with a currently established network domain in an international mobile telecommunication-2000 (LMT-2000) system including a mobile station (MS), a radio network and one or more network domains includes the steps of: by the radio network, analyzing information about a network domain that is currently coupled thereto; inserting a network domain discriminator into a synchronous channel message; transmitting the synchronous channel message to the mobile station via a channel for communication; by the mobile station, determining a type of the network domain; and by the mobile station, interworking with the determined network domain via the radio network.

A method for supporting a multi-call in an IMT-2000 system providing a plurality of services including a voice communication service, a moving picture service and a radio internet service, wherein the IMT-2000 system includes one or more mobile stations, one or more radio networks and one or more core networks includes the steps of: in response to a call request of the mobile station, transmitting an origination message to the radio network; generating a CM service request message based on the origination message and transmitting the CM service request message to the core network; determining whether the call request is an initial call request or an additional call request based on the CM service request message, wherein the additional call request means a request of an additional traffic channel for using other service; generating one or more traffic channels for the mobile station; and storing a first identity for the mobile station and a second identity for an assigned traffic channel in a storage unit.
