Abstract:
A silent discharge plasma apparatus includes a dielectric member, a pair of electrodes opposed to each other across the dielectric member and an alternating-current source applying an alternating-current voltage between the electrodes and causing a discharge. A gas is supplied to a discharge space, where discharge occurs, and a plasma is produced. At least one of the electrodes includes a conductive power feeding thin film on the dielectric member. When the dielectric member is destroyed and an arc discharge develops between the electrodes, the power feeding thin film is eliminated or oxidized, and the arc discharge is stopped.
Abstract:
A food and surface sanitizing apparatus has a compact corona discharge type ozone generator, having a permanently sealed small diameter, concentric anode, dielectric and cathode set which does not require dry air feed and which requires no maintenance. A dedicated cooling apparatus permits consistent ozone output over extended time of use. The apparatus is encapsulated in a housing along with an apparatus for dissolving a portion of the ozone in the stream of water passing through an arrangement of tubing. A sensor recognizes the presence of oxidizer in the water stream and adjusts the output of the ozone generator to maintain a predetermined level of dissolved ozone. A water flow quantifier enumerates the total volume of water processed.
Abstract:
A reactor produces a surface corona for emitting UV light and for the production of ozone by passing air or oxygen through the surface corona. The emitted UV light activates a photocatalyst coated on a surface facing a surface with embedded electrodes which generate the surface corona. The photocatalyst is a thin film of nanoparticle TiO2 with primary particle size of 0.02 to 0.2 μm was deposited on a substrate by a flame aerosol method. The method combines ozonation and photocatalysis to provide effective and efficient oxidation of alcohols and hydrocarbons to value added products. The method can also be used for air and water cleaning.
Abstract:
A treatment system or treatment reactor (1) comprising at least one dielectric barrier discharge lamp (2) with a first electrode (20) and a housing (10) for containing a medium (3) like a fluid and/or a gas and/or a solid material which is to be treated by means of the radiation generated by the lamp (2) is disclosed which is especially characterized in that at least one second electrode of at least one lamp (2) is provided in the form of at least one intermediate counter electrode (3, 4) which is positioned within a volume (31) between at least one dielectric barrier discharge lamp (2) and the housing (10). By this, influences of the treated medium on the electrical behavior of the treatment system or reactor (1) and especially power losses in the medium can be avoided or considerably be decreased. Furthermore, losses of the lamp light due to absorption and/or shadowing at an outer electrode surrounding the lamp are avoided as well.
Abstract:
Apparatus, method and system for delivering a sterile unit dose of ozone that may include concentrating oxygen from air, which can include pressurizing at least one zeolite chamber having at least one zeolite material where the at least one zeolite material selectively adsorbs a substantial amount of nitrogen and not a substantial amount of oxygen. An oxygen-ozone cell may be filled with substantially concentrated oxygen from the at least one zeolite chamber. The oxygen-ozone cell may then be sequestered. The oxygen-ozone cell may be removed and may be engaged with an ozone conversion unit. The ozone conversion unit may charge the substantially concentrated oxygen generating a predetermined concentration of ozone. The oxygen-ozone cell may be disengaged from the ozone conversion unit.

The ozone generator includes: an inner tube and a middle tube each of which is concentrically disposed, the electrode plate being interposed between the inner tube and the middle tube; an adhesive sealing both ends of the electrode plate; an electrode pipe for electrically connecting to a power source and disposed within the electrode plate; a passage formed through a middle of the heat sink; and an outer tube installed in an inner periphery surface of the passage, the outer tube being concentrically disposed to maintain a predetermined distance from an outer periphery surface of the middle tube.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an apparatus 1 for the treatment of air comprising a low power corona discharge ozone generator 5,6 inside a chamber 9 having an inlet 2 and an outlet 7, and at least one air flow impeller 3 for inducing a flow of air through the chamber 9. The ozone generator 5,6 is formed and arranged for generating a restricted concentration of ozone, within an inactivating zone 10 contained within the chamber 9, through which the air flow is passed. The restricted concentration is sufficient to inactivate airborne pollutant material entrained in the air flow, yet decays sufficiently outside the inactivating zone so that the concentration of ozone in the cleaned air expelled from the apparatus 1 is at a physiologically acceptable level without the use of an ozone decomposition catalyzer.

A process and reactor for chemical conversion is taught. The process allows the selective breaking of chemical bonds in a molecule by use of fast rise alternating current or fast rise pulsed direct current, each fast rise portion being selected to have a suitable voltage and frequency to break a selected chemical bond in a molecule. The reactor for carrying out such a process includes a chamber for containing the molecule and a generator for generating and applying the selected fast rise current.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for ionizing fluid including a pair of electric discharge devices through which the fluid may flow while the devices discharge electricity into the fluid. Each of the pair of electric discharge devices includes a field electrode and a discharge electrode. While AC electrical power is provided to the electrodes of the pair of electric discharge devices, one of the electric discharge devices provides electrical discharge into fluid therein during at least a portion of one polarity of the AC electrical power while the other electric discharge device is substantially non-conducting of electrical power, and vice versa during the opposite polarity of power. The invention further relates to a method of deodorizing an area or eliminating mold by providing in the area a gas mixture including a concentration of ionized nitrogen such that it causes a layer of nitric acid to be formed on any moist surfaces in the area or it causes dessication of moist organic material during the formation of a layer of nitric acid.

The dielectric in a first embodiment and the entire dielectric assembly in a second embodiment can be removed from the housing and replaced in its entirety by the knob.
