    摘要: A hydraulic motor includes an elongated output member which is supported for rotational movement about a central axis thereof. The output member is driven by a gerotor gearset which includes an outer member having internal teeth which mesh with external teeth on an inner member. The inner member is fixed against movement and the teeth on the inner and outer members define a series of expansible and contractable fluid pockets. The outer member orbits and rotates as a result of fluid being directed into certain of the fluid pockets to expand same and fluid is directed from contracting pockets. A tubular member drivingly connects the outer member and output member and transmits driving torque to the output member. The tubular member is connected in a 1:1 rotational driving relationship with the outer member and output member. The driving connection of the tubular member to the outer member and output member is such that the tubular member can rock relative to these members so that its motion describes a cone as it follows the orbital motion of the outer member and transmits rotary motion to the output member.

    摘要: An apparatus for controlling epicyclic motion of a rotor in a rotary engine is disclosed. The apparatus comprises: an internal gear secured to said rotor; an eccentric mounted within the rotor and adapted to rotate therein, the drive shaft extending through the eccentric and being permitted to rotate within the eccentric; an external gear secured to the drive shaft and adapted to mesh with the internal gear; and means for synchronizing the rotational movement of the rotor to permit the rotor to rotate within the engine chamber, the speed ratio of the angular velocity of the eccentric to the angular velocity of the rotor being equal to the number of symmetrically spaced-apart lobes. Due to the controlled motion of the rotor within the chamber, the rotor tips may be provided with slidable vanes which contact the circumferential wall of the chamber due to centrifugal forces acting on the slidable vanes. The apparatus may be adapted for use in rotary internal combustion engines, hydraulic pumps, compressors and the like where there may be any number of lobes on the rotor. The apparatus does not restrict rotary engine design as is experienced with other types of apparatus for performing the same function and it permits varying of the drive shaft speed independently of the rotor speed where the drive shaft may rotate in the same direction, remain stationary or rotate in the opposite direction to the rotor.

    摘要: Improved fluid-mechanical and mechanical-fluid energy translation devices, such as fluid motors, pumps and certain actuators, meters, couplers and the like of the type having an orbital member disposed between a rotor element and a stator element and coupled with one of the elements by fluid displacement means and with the other element by gear means, are provided by employing therein a plurality of eccentric means for positively but shiftably mounting the member upon the element to which it is coupled by fluid displacement means in manner restricting relative motion between the member and the lastmentioned element to relative orbital motion. The element upon which the member is thus mounted may be either a rotor or a stator element and may be either the inner or the outer of the elements in various embodiments of devices incorporating the invention. The eccentric means, which are essentially cranks or shafts with offset axes, significantly are alone sufficient to accomplish the positive, shiftable mounting of the member and the restriction of same to relative orbital motion and to do so quite independently of any other fluid and mechanical couplings that may exist between the member and the elements in various particular forms of devices. The preferred embodiment also provides a further improvement in devices of this type employing vanes to define fluid displacement chambers by arranging the parts to maintain the pair of vanes bounding each chamber parallel to each other throughout the operating cycle, thereby maintaining the chordal transverse cross-sectional area of each chamber substantially constant throughout such cycle. The devices embodying the invention are characterized by increased efficiency and reliability, reduced wear on certain primary parts, and greater economy of manufacture by virtue of reduced strength and looser tolerance requirements in connection with certain primary parts.
