Abstract:
Systems for multiple use subchannels are provided. In one embodiment, a bidirectional communication system comprises: a first remote for communicating with a host using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), the host communicatively coupled to a plurality of remotes in a multipoint-to-point configuration; wherein the first remote is configured to transmit up to a plurality of tones modulated with upstream information using OFDM; the first remote including a modulator for modulating the up to a plurality of tones with upstream information using OFDM, wherein the modulator is configured to adjust a carrier frequency of the plurality of tones such that when any tones are transmitted from the first remote and at least one other remote of the plurality of remotes, the orthogonality of the tones when received at the host is improved; and wherein both control data and payload data are transmitted on a first tone of the plurality of tones.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a protocol aware circuit for automatic test equipment, which includes a protocol generation circuit constructed to retrieve protocol unique data and format the protocol unique data with a selected protocol definition corresponding to a device under test for testing the device under test. The protocol generation circuit may be constructed to retrieve the selected protocol definition from a protocol definition table.
Abstract:
A method for identifying a failed network interface card in a system having two NICs configured as a team includes the steps of transmitting a first data packet from the first NIC to a third NIC, wherein the third NIC is not a member of the team, and transmitting a second data packet from the first NIC to the second NIC or from the second NIC to the third NIC, depending on whether the third NIC responds to the transmission of the first data packet. One advantage of the disclosed method is that it specifically identifies which NIC within the team has failed, which is something that cannot be determined by simply exchanging packets between the two NICs.
Abstract:
A communications link of multiple parallel communications lines includes at least one redundant line. In a first aspect, the lines are periodically recalibrated one at a time while the others carry functional data. If a fault is detected, the faulty line is disabled and the remaining previously calibrated lines transmit functional data. In a second aspect, impending line malfunction is detected from anomalies during calibration. In a third aspect, line malfunction is detected from receiver circuit output by determining a logical lane upon which each detected error occurs, and by mapping the logical lane to a physical line currently carrying the logical lane data.
Abstract:
A wireless communications device may include a wireless transmitter, a modulator connected to the wireless transmitter, and a white Gaussian noise generator connected to the modulator. The white Gaussian noise generator may include at least one pseudorandom number generator, and a fast Walsh transform module for generating white Gaussian noise based upon the pseudorandom numbers.
Abstract:
A method begins by a processing module detecting a potential dispersed storage network (DSN) protocol issue that effects access of dispersed storage error encoded data within a DSN. The method continues with the processing module identifying a DSN entity based on the DSN protocol issue and generating a DSN protocol inquiry frame. The method continues with the processing module transmitting the DSN protocol inquiry frame to the DSN entity. The method continues with the processing module receiving a DSN protocol response frame from the DSN entity and resolving the DSN protocol issue based on the DSN protocol response frame.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of testing a wireless network are provided. Simulated user data, spread across all user data sub-carriers of all sub-channels of a frequency band assigned for transmissions, is transmitted by a number of base stations surrounding a base station under test. The power level of the simulated user data is determined based on a selected network load. A mobile station receives signals from the base station under test and the number of base stations, and the interference caused by the simulated user data to the transmission from the base station under test is determined. When less than 100% loading is employed for testing, the sub-channels carrying the simulated user data can vary on a frame-by-frame basis.
Abstract:
An apparatus and communication method that provide for communicating information on a standardized link compliant with a published standard and communicating information on a private link capable of operation at a throughput higher than maximum throughput of the published standard. The apparatus and method further provide for monitoring private link performance and increasing information throughput on the private link above the maximum standard throughput by an amount determined by the monitored private link performance.
Abstract:
For an apparatus which communicates data of a number of virtual lanes over a number of physical lanes, where the number of virtual lanes is different than the number of physical lanes and where a mapping between the virtual lanes and the physical lanes is not fixed, a method is provided for ascertaining the mapping between the virtual lanes and the physical lanes. The method includes: applying an impairment to a communication capability of one of the physical lanes so as to increase bit errors for data communicated via said one physical lane; determining a test bit error rate for each of the plurality of virtual lanes while the impairment is applied to the communication capability of the one physical lane; and ascertaining from the test bit error rates which of the virtual lanes is/are mapped to the one physical lane whose communication capability was impaired.
Abstract:
A packet loss frequency measuring system for measuring the packet loss frequency at low processing costs is provided. Packet information storage means 112 has plural packet information storage areas 113 for storing information corresponding to field values including at least an acknowledgment number in a packet. Packet information registration means 111 selects one of the plural packet information storage areas 113 upon receiving a packet and storing, in the selected packet information storing area 113, information corresponding to the field values including at least the acknowledgment number in the received packet. Counting means 114 counts the number of pieces of information commonly stored in packet information storage areas equal in number to or more than a predetermined number.
