Abstract:
Communication-identifier-assigned image data is transmitted via a set channel using the same as a communication identifier set for each image transmitter and a channel set in transmission. Then, a receiver which has received a plurality of image data items stores the received image data items, communication identifiers, and channels in such a manner that the received image data items are related to the communication identifiers and channels. Thumbnailed images in each image data item are displayed on one screen. When an image is selected from the thumbnailed images, an image transmitter that has transmitted the image is determined on the basis of the communication identifier and channel related to the selected image and is connected exclusively to the receiver. Images acquired from this time on are enlarged and displayed chronologically on a display section. The image transmitter and receiver constitute a wireless communication system.

In implementing data transfer using noncontact close proximity transfer, the user operability is improved. The invention includes a communication system having a DSC and printer. Each of the DSC and printer includes a noncontact close proximity transfer function unit which executes, when the DSC and printer are located within a communicable range, connection processing for establishing a connection state in a first communication layer, a print image transfer processing unit which executes, when the connection state in the first communication layer is established, authentication processing for checking whether a connection state in a second communication layer has been established, and executes, when authentication fails, connection processing for establishing the connection state in the second communication layer, and a link control unit which transfers data when authentication succeeds or when the connection state in the second communication layer is established.
Abstract:
A network scanning method and device are provided that allow an image scanning device to scan documents and transmit the scan data to a server. The image scanning device checks a connection between the image scanning device and a server, generates scan data by scanning documents, stores the generated scan data in a storage unit if a connection error exists between the image scanning device and the server, and checks whether the connection error between the image scanning device and the server is corrected. The image scanning device transmits the scan data stored in the storage unit to the server when the connection error has been corrected. Transmission of scan data is delayed until the connection error to the server is corrected, thereby reducing inconvenience in having to reset network settings after waiting until the connection error to the server has been corrected.

An image forming system includes an image reading apparatus, a printer that is connected to the image reading apparatus and performs printing processing by directly receiving image data read by the image reading apparatus, and a notification unit that notifies failure information to the other apparatus if a failure occurs either in the image reading apparatus or in the printer, wherein the image reading apparatus includes a failure information acquisition unit that acquires failure information notified by the notification unit when a failure has occurred in the printer, a determination unit that determines whether or not the image reading apparatus is in the process of reading image data.

A self-contained wireless camera (10) and a wireless camera system (25) having such a device and a base station (20). Video processing (e.g. video compression) circuitry (200, 210) of the camera device receives video signals from a camera (130) and provides processed video signals. These are transmitted over a shared radio channel. A radio receiver (101) receives processed (e.g. compressed) video signals from the base station or another camera device. Images from the camera or the base station are displayed in a selected manner on a display or monitor (140). The base station device (20) receives processed (e.g. compressed) video signals, stores them and retransmits them. A command signal is received by the radio receiver to modify operation in such a manner as to control bandwidth usage. Wireless camera devices can adjust their operation to accommodate other wireless camera devices. Different transport protocol modules 230 and 240 can be selected according to the application that the user selects for operation.

In a printing system in which a printer and digital camera are connected and image data transmitted by the digital camera is received and printed by the printer, the printer transmits information about image correction functions supported by the printer to the digital camera, the digital camera sets image correction parameters based on the transmitted information and stores them in a memory of the digital camera, and before printing the image data, the printer reads out the image correction parameters stored in the memory and corrects the image data to be printed, using the read-out image correction parameters.

The scanner includes, a reading section that reads an image recorded on a sheet so as to generate image data, an image data group supply section that, in a case where a plurality of images recorded on a plurality of sheets are read by the reading section, sequentially generates an image data group every time a part of the plurality of sheets is read by the reading section, and sequentially supplies the generated image data group to the external device, a joint information generation section that generates joint information used to join two or more of the image data groups, the two or more of the image data groups representing the plurality of images; and a joint information supply section that supplies the joint information to the external device.

A printer having a digital camera connected thereto checks whether or not a transfer button of the camera is pressed, and checks the communication mode of the camera in the case where it is pressed. In the case where the communication mode of the camera is a mass storage mode, a conversion command for ordering change to a PTP mode is sent to the camera from the printer. The camera performs a bus reset so as to redo configuration and convert the protocol to the PTP mode. In the case where the communication mode of the camera is the PTP mode or is automatically changed to the PTP mode, the image is transferred to the printer in conjunction with operation of the transfer button. Thus, a desired image is transferred to a host such as the printer according to a transfer instruction of an image by the transfer button, etc. on a device side while a user is not conscious of the state of a communication mode and mode switching of the device such as the digital camera.

After a digital multi-function peripheral establishes a connection with a mobile phone once, it rejects connection establishment requests made to a wireless communication section by other devices. Moreover, after a connection is established with a mobile phone once, the digital multi-function peripheral stops sending of the address of the wireless communication section through a reader/writer. After completing the sending/receiving of data, the digital multi-function peripheral and the mobile phone delete the addresses of their partner devices stored in them, respectively, for use in sending/receiving data.

A communication device is driven by an on-demand driver installed in an apparatus that includes an on-demand driver generating program that generates the on-demand driver for the communication device based on device information of the communication device. The communication device includes a memory unit that stores therein the device information of the communication device, a responding unit that, in response to a request for obtaining the device information from the on-demand driver generating program, sends the device information stored in the memory unit to the apparatus, and an updating unit that is used in externally updating the device information stored in the memory unit.
