Abstract:
A slide rail assembly adapted for engaging a drive track of a snowmobile. The slide rail assembly comprises a rail adapted for engagement with a rear suspension system of the snowmobile, and aligned forward and rear slide portions disposed on a lower surface of the rail adjacent the drive track. The forward and rear slide portions are respectively located on forward and rear portions of the rail. The rear slide portion comprises a first material and the forward slide portion comprises a second material, the second material having a hardness which is less than that of the first material. Noise and vibrations resulting from contact between the drive track and the forward slide portion are attenuated by the second material.
Abstract:
A multi-layer seal and washer that provide a seal between a vane stem and a casing in a turbine engine are disclosed. The seal and washer are fabricated from materials such as Teflon fibers and glass fibers and are impregnated with a polyimide resin. The seal and washer are durable and have a low coefficient of friction.

Abstract:
Bush 4 is fabricated by providing porous sintered metal layer 7 of copper on the surface side of back metal layer 5 of steel plate through copper plating layer 6 and coating the inside and the surface of porous sintered metal layer 7 with sliding material 8 by impregnation. Sliding material 8 comprises 1-25 vol.% of tetrafluoroethylene-perfluoroalkylvinyl ether copolymer resin, 1-25 vol.% of at least one member selected from the group consisting of oxybenzoylpolyester resin and polyimide resin and 0.1-10 vol.% of hard particles having a Mohs hardness of 4 or more and average particle sizes of 5 &mgr;m or less such as Al2O3 and SiC, the balance being polytetrafluoroethylene resin (55 vol.% or more of the total siding material) as the main component. 0.5-25 vol.% of a solid lubricant such as graphite and MoS2 can be further contained in total together with the hard particles. The sliding material containing polytetrafluoroethylene resin as the main component has an improved fretting wear resistance particularly when used as a bearing material.
Abstract:
A rolling bearing comprises an inner ring, an outer ring concentric with the inner ring, a plurality of rolling elements interposed between the inner ring and the outer ring, and a cage having pockets each accommodating the rolling elements one each. The cage comprises base material made of thermoplastic resin. Reinforced fiber and solid lubricant are mixed into the base material. The solid lubricant includes three materials, i.e., polytetrafluoroethylene, molybdenum disulfide and graphite.
Abstract:
This invention related to a bearing for the drive ring of a ring drive of a silo reclaimer wherein the bearing is mounted on the drive ring for bearing relation with bearing surface of the ring drive and is made of a plastics bearing material. The plastics bearing material has a coefficient of friction on its bearing surface so as to operate without lubrication in use.
Abstract:
A slide bearing including an assembly of slide pads compressively mounted within a housing. The bearing allows a pipe to be held such that it may slide through the bearing whilst still accommodating lateral and pitch variations.
Abstract:
A universal joint for a tilt steering column of a vehicle includes an intermediate cup pivotally coupled to an end of a driven shaft, and a bell yoke receiving the intermediate cup within a cavity of the bell yoke. A pin extends from the bell yoke into an aperture of the intermediate cup. A layered bushing is compressed between an end of the pin and the aperture of the intermediate cup. The layered bushing is comprised of a mesh main body having a radially inner sliding layer and a radially outer gripping layer.
Abstract:
An improved sleeve bearing and associated lubrication system for the rotor shaft of a steam turbine. The bearing is lined with a metallic-polymeric composite, and is fixedly supported within a housing defining a reservoir containing a supply of liquid lubricant. The lubrication system includes a ring loosely surrounding the rotor shaft at a location spaced axially from the bearing. A lower portion of the ring is partially submerged in the lubricant. The ring is rotatably driven in response to rotation of the rotor shaft, with lubricant picked up on the ring being centrifugally discharged radially outwardly onto the surrounding housing walls. A system of communicating troughs, scuppers and passageways receives lubricant running off the housing walls for delivery under gravity to the bearing. Return passageways direct lubricant exiting from the bearing past water cooled chambers, over a weir and back to the reservoir.
Abstract:
A maintenance-free sliding bearing composed of a metal support and a layer which is directly applied thereto and which consists of a copolymer of ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene forming an intermediate layer to which a second sliding layer of plastics is applied.
