Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for combating the appearance of mist (misting) during the coating of flexible supports with at least one liquid silicone (RTV polyaddition) composition which is a precursor of silicone coating(s) using a roll coating device operating at high speed. The targeted aim is to increase the speed of appearance of the misting and subsequently to improve the appearance, the coverage and the mechanical properties of the silicone coating and industrial hygiene. For this, use is made of a liquid coating composition obtained by mixing: a silicone phase comprising one or more POSs (A) and optionally one or more (crosslinking) compound(s) (B), the viscosity null of which at 25null C. is between 100 and 800 mPa.s; with 1 to 10% by weight of noncellulose antimist particles (talc, silica, kaolin, TiO2), the D50 (in nullm) of which is: 0.01nullD50null2; and optionally with a liquid (D)nullwater/solvent.
Abstract:
A plaster-like coating composition particularly adapted for the do-it-yourselfer or those not trained in the art of plastering or painting, containing both a binder for coating (with texture or the appearance of texture) and a colorant. The composition is applied to walls constructed of various substrates (i.e., sheetrock, plaster, wood, brick, metal, cement, or various composite structures.) to create a decorative surface which has texture or the appearance of texture and also has color. The coating composition is applied in a two to three coat process using a flat metal or plastic trowel, or one which is padded.
Abstract:
A method for damping vibration of a substrate comprises the step of applying a liquid material onto the substrate in an ambient environment, wherein, after application to the substrate, the material cures substantially instantaneously in the ambient environment. The damping composition usable therefor comprises a resin component and an isocyanate component. The resin component includes a polymer(s) for imparting tensile strength, hardness and flexibility; an optional chain extender(s) for imparting tensile strength, weatherability, flexibility, adhesion to specific substrates, and hardness; and an optional filler for imparting hardness, flexibility, and specific noise, vibration and harshness blocking characteristics to the after-application, cured surface. The isocyanate component of the composition includes an isocyanate quasi-prepolymer(s) based on a uretonimine modified MDI and a high molecular weight polyether polyol having an isocyanate equivalent content of 15.8% and a 2,4null-isomer content of less than about 15%; and an optional plasticizer(s) for imparting flexibility.
Abstract:
A vehicle tire dressing apparatus according to the present invention comprises left and right dressing applicators situated alongside a vehicle conveying track, the dressing applicators being moveable individually into contacting engagement with tires on left and right sides of a vehicle in the track. Each applicator has an applicator pad mounted to a mount bar and the mount bar is hinged to a frame which allows articulation of the applicator pad into and out of contact with the tires. The applicator pad is configured with a plurality of orifices, each of which orifices receives fluid sprayed from a complimentary spray nozzle. Each orifice has an elongated capillary which assists dispersing fluid into the pad. The spray nozzles emit fluid into the pads for a predetermined amount of time, the spraying being initiated by movement of the vehicle into proximity with the tire dressing assembly.

Abstract:
Process for the at least partial, direct coating of an extensible backing material with a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition, the backing material being guided by a transporting apparatus against a coating apparatus in such a way that the latter applies the pressure-sensitive adhesive composition to the backing material, characterized in that there are adhesion devices or holding devices present on the transporting apparatus so that the properties of the backing are not altered in the course of coating.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a heat insulating finish coating method which comprises coating by at least one coating a heat insulating coating material by use of (I) a porous-shaped roller or (II) a spray coating gun having a nozzle bore diameter of 0.3 to 15 mm to form a thick film having an uneven coating surface, said heat insulating coating material containing (A) a resin emulsion, (B) a hollow bead having a mean particle size of 1 to 300 nullm and (C) a thickening agent and having a viscosity of 2 to 100 Panulls, said hollow bead (B) being contained in an amount of 20 to 98% by volume based on a solid content of the heat insulating coating material, said thickening agent (B) being contained in an amount of 0.01 to 5% by weight based on a solid content of the heat insulating coating material.
Abstract:
Methods that apply decorative particles in-line in the manufacturing process to form a decorative structured mat or veil that is ready for direct commercial application. The decorative particles or decorative paint patterns should be of a size and/or color to be visible at a distance of five meters from the decorative mat or veil. In preferred embodiments, the particle size ranges from about 100 to about 500 microns in size. A formulation for coating a glass fiber mat with decorative particles is also provided.
Abstract:
A method for continuously coating at least one surface of a metal strip with a single-layer or multilayer crosslinkable polymer fluid film (20) obtained from solid precursors at room temperature and free of non-reactive solvent or diluent and whereof the softening temperature is higher than 50null C. The method includes: continuously unwinding the metal strip (1); preheating the metal strip (1) at a temperature substantially equal to or higher than the crosslinkable polymer softening temperature; forming by forced flow on an applicator roll (12) with deformable surface a single-layer or multilayer coat (13) of the crosslinkable polymer; driving in rotation the applicator roll in the same direction as that of the unwinding of the metal strip (1), heating the applicator roll (12) to a temperature higher than the temperature for forming the coat; and transferring the coat onto the metal strip to form the single-layer or mutilayer film (20) on the corresponding surface of the metal strip (1). Also a coating device for implementing the method.
Abstract:
The present invention refers to a process for the preparation of printed and partially metalized plastic films with nullsetnull metalization and to the so obtained films, wherein with the term nullsetnull metalization we mean the deposition of the metal on the interest zone with a precision of two tenths of millimeter, said process comprising the application of a water-soluble paint in definite zones of a printed plastic film, the metalization of the film and the washing with water of the metalized film by removal of the water-soluble paint and the metal deposited on the paint itself.
