    Abstract: A water resistant tote box is provided. The tote box includes a base, longitudinally extending sidewalls, laterally extending end walls, and a two-piece lid. The base includes a concave lower surface that matches a convex upper surface of the lid, for preserving the structural integrity of the convex upper surface when stacking a like tote box thereon. The two-piece lid includes a pair of lid halves including a rear end hingedly attached to the sidewalls and a free end including interlocking flaps that are securable via a line of connection. Drain troughs disposed on the walls are in fluid communication with drain channels disposed on the lid, enabling moisture to flow off the top of the tote box. Drain gutters disposed on the lid halves are configured to direct moisture, permeating the line of connection, towards the walls. In this way, the tote box has a synergistic effect of resisting water by directing moisture away from the top of the tote box and preventing moisture from leaking into its interior.

    Abstract: The present disclosure describes a hot-fill container for use with a hot-filling process. The container includes vacuum absorption sections that resist partial collapse and uncontrolled deformation of the container's walls during the hot-filling process. The vacuum absorption sections are asymmetrically-formed and include respective edge portions and panel portions configured to deform and pivot about a linear part of the edge portions when a vacuum is created inside the container. The edge portions have a curvilinear part that is adapted to comfortably receive and engage a user's fingers during use of the container, making the container more user friendly. The vacuum absorption sections are arranged about the container's central longitudinal axis such that their respective panel portions substantially form the sides of a polygon when viewed in top plan view. The polygon appears to be inscribed within an otherwise circular container periphery.

    Abstract: A plastic container is provided that includes a lower supporting base portion; a sidewall portion extending upwardly from the base portion; a neck portion extending upwardly from the sidewall portion; and a closure. The neck portion includes a support flange having an upper and lower surface, threads, a tamper-evident formation, and a dispensing opening at the top of the neck portion. In an embodiment, the weight of the neck portion is 3.0 grams or less; and the vertical distance from the top of the dispensing opening to the lower surface of the support flange, including the threads and the tamper-evident formation, is 0.580 inches or less. A preform and method for making a container are also disclosed.

    Abstract: A plastic container for storing liquid under a low overpressure having a container body, to whose one longitudinal end a container neck is connected, which neck has a pour opening. A bottom section has a container bottom and an edge area pulled up on the sides and that turns into the container body, is connected to the other longitudinal end of the container body. The container bottom has a curved concave section, whose periphery is connected via an axially projecting, graduated transition area to a platform that runs into the edge area pulled up on the sides. The platform and at least one partial area of the graduated transition area are interrupted by a first number of grooves. In the concave section, a second number of panel-like projections are made, which essentially extend between the graduated transition area and the longitudinal axis and end before the graduated transition area.
