    摘要: This invention record describes the production of a low vulnerability propellant (LOVA) ingredients utilizing mixtures of alkyl nitratoethyl nitramines (alkyl NENAs) and/or bis (2-nitroxyethyl) nitramine (DINA) with nitrocellulose. Described compositions provide lower freezing points and decreases sensitivity while maintaining or surpassing output realized with currently used nitroglycerins/nitrocellulose mixtures. A process to provide for the production of desired mixtures of alkyl NENAs with each other or with DINA in a safe, cost-effective co-nitration process is disclosed. The process involves mixing together predetermined amounts of precursors for each of alkyl NENAs and/or DINA to be present in the final mix. Nitrating the precursors followed by a catalyst reaction, wash and neutralization step.

    摘要: This invention is first, a difunctional poly(glycidyl nitrate) oligomer (PGN oligomer), second, nitrated PGN oligomer and third, the use of the nitrated PGN oligomer as a plasticizer, particularly as a plasticizer for binders used in and/or as energetic formulations. Examples of energetic formulations are propellants, pyrotechnics and explosives and other such compositions. More particularly, this invention is a difunctional poly(glycidyl nitrate) oligomer of the formula ##STR1## where n is 0 to 3, having a M.sub.n of from about 304 to about 994. Another embodiment is the nitrated difunctional poly(glycidyl nitrate) oligomer of the formula ##STR2## where n is 0 to 3, having a M.sub.n of from about 394 to about 1084. This invention also comprises a plasticizer for binder compounds, namely, the nitrated PGN oligomer above; preferably the plasticizer above is used wherein the binder compound is used in energetic formulations; and preferably the binder compound is an energetic compound; more preferably the energetic formulation is selected from the group consisting of propellants, pyrotechnics and explosives.

The invention uniquely combines the high energy of high solids loading combined with energetic polymers and plasticizers to provide the insensitivity of rubbery explosive compositions.

The subject of the present invention is a low-vulnerability component of explosive ammunition consisting of a preferably metallic enclosure 1 containing a charge 2 of low-sensitivity composite explosive E and, as initiating relay, a plane wave generator 3 consisting, on the one hand, of a cylindroconical cap 7 made of composite explosive A, the large base surface having a diameter d greater than the critical diameter of the explosive E, the cavity 8 of this cap 7 being filled with a composite explosive B and, on the other hand, of a reinforcer made of composite explosive C, of thickness e greater than 0.1 d, the detonation pressure of the explosive C being higher than that of the explosive E. The detonability index according to the test for detonability behind a barrier is between 90 and 200 cards in the case of the explosives A, B and C and lower than 90 cards in the case of the explosive E. The invention also relates to the process for initiating the charge 2 using the generator 3.
