摘要: A calibration apparatus for calibrating a laser Doppler vibrometer includes: a frequency shifter stage that: receives, from the laser Doppler vibrometer, primary laser light; produces frequency shifted light; communicates the frequency shifted light to a reflector; receives frequency shifted light reflected by the reflector; produces secondary light; and communicates the secondary light to the laser Doppler vibrometer, such that the laser Doppler vibrometer receives the secondary light from the frequency shifter stage and produces a synthetic velocity shift from the secondary light; and the reflector that receives and reflects the frequency shifted light back to the frequency shifter stage.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided for achieving more accurate 3D printed parts than printed parts achieved by conventional means. The disclosed systems and methods reduce the need for tolerance fitting when designing 3D objects and manufacturing with stereolithographic 3D printers. Embodiments of the present disclosure enable fitted assemblies to be manufactured and produce accurate standoffs where size constraints are critical. Embodiments of the present disclosure realize these solutions without requiring modifications to the printer or the printer software.

摘要: A flexible implement positioner that is lockably installable around abutting flanges of abutting tubes enables an implement, such as a temperature gauge, to be desirably positioned near the joint between the abutting flanges and enable the implement to monitor the joint between the flanges. The implement positioner includes a plurality of body segments hingedly connected to one another in an end to end relationship, with one end including a lock body segment and the opposite end including a lock body segment having a lock lever hingedly mounted thereon, the lock lever positionable in engagement with the lock body segment and pivotal to lockably engage the lock lever when installing the implement positioner on one of the flanges.

摘要: A flow imaging and monitoring system for synchronized management of wide area drainage that includes an interposer for supporting monitoring and management equipment in a manhole, a module for illuminating water flowing in pipes at the base of the manhole, a module for monitoring responses to reflected light, a sealed and rechargeable battery pack, and a data analysis and management system to interpret data streams in real time. The interposer can be adjusted to fit the diameter of the manhole and can be adjusted to be placed under the manhole cover. The module for illuminating the flowing water can be adjusted to generate various frequencies. The support structures for the modules can be adjusted for varying pitch, roll and yaw with respect to the manhole. The data analysis and management system is supported by cloud computing.

摘要: An apparatus includes a polarization rotator or a polarization splitter. The polarization rotator and the polarization splitter each includes a first optical waveguide. The polarization rotator further includes a movable symmetry-breaking micro-electro-mechanical systems (“MEMS”) dielectric perturber separated from the first optical waveguide by a gap. The first optical waveguide and the MEMS dielectric perturber define a gap therebetween. The polarization rotator also includes a MEMS actuator moving the MEMS dielectric perturber so as to control the gap, thereby controlling polarization rotation within the first optical waveguide. The polarization splitter includes a second optical waveguide separated from the first optical waveguide by a gap. The polarization splitter also includes a MEMS actuator moving the first optical waveguide and/or the second optical waveguide so as to control the gap, thereby controlling polarization splitting between the optical waveguides.

A chemistry release fiber comprising a permeable membrane and a chemical release agent is used to delay chemical reagent delivery to the indicator of a lateral-flow immunoassay. Also disclosed is the related method of delaying application of chemical reagents in a lateral-flow immunoassay.

摘要: A quantum Hall resistance apparatus is to improve resistance standards and includes a substrate, a graphene epitaxially grown on the substrate and having a plurality of first contact patterns at edges of the graphene, a plurality of contacts, each including a second contact pattern and configured to connect to a corresponding first contact pattern, and a protective layer configured to protect the graphene and to increase adherence between the first contact patterns and the second contact patterns. The contacts become a superconductor at a temperature lower than or equal to a predetermined temperature and under up to a predetermined magnetic flux density.
