    摘要: A fracture fixation device includes a plate portion and an intramedullary nail portion which is offset relative to the plate portion by a neck portion. The plate portion includes longitudinally displaced peg holes which orient pegs along an imaginary surface parallel to subchondral bone of an articular surface. The upper surface of the plate portion includes a dimple to reference a jig. The nail portion includes threaded screw holes oriented normal to an endosteal surface, and a smaller K-wire alignment hole parallel to the screw holes. The jig has a first portion which references with the dimple and a second portion in alignment over the screw holes of the nail portion. The back of the first portion of the jig is curved upward to facilitate maneuvering of the jig. The first and second portions of the jig includes K-wire guide holes which direct K-wires relative to holes in the device.

    摘要: A guide catheter shaft is formed from an inner tube structure and a multilayer sheath around the inner tube structure. The multilayer sheath includes an intermediate sheath and a shrink tube layer. The intermediate sheath is disposed around the inner tube and realized from a melt-processible first polyether-block amide material. The shrink tube layer is disposed around the intermediate sheath and realized from a different second polyether-block amide (e.g. a cross-linked polyether-block amide material) having a shrink temperature range greater than a melt temperature range of the first polyether-block amide material. The resulting structure is heated at a temperature within the shrink temperature range such that the outer shrink tube layer shrinks and the intermediate layer melts to thereby bond the multilayer sheath to the inner tube.

The first, second and third hinges are preferably torsion bar hinges with the first hinge biasing the exterior case members to an open position and the second and third springs biasing the interior frame members toward interior surfaces of the exterior case members. One or both of the exterior case members are preferably provided with a latch structure which allows the folding case to be latched in a closed position. The dimensions of the folding case are preferably such that the case can be carried in a pocket or purse when it is folded into the closed position.

    摘要: Time multiplexed processing of multiple SONET signals uses the same shared circuitry for framing, descrambling, maintenance signal processing, control byte processing and extraction, pointer tracking, retiming, and alarm indication. The signals are deserialized and multiplexed onto a byte-wide bus from which they are processed in a shared pipeline. Additional pipelines allow scaling up to higher capacity SONET signals. Each pipeline is provided with means for communicating with the other pipelines so that information derived from the processing of one stream can be shared with the processing of other streams when necessary. According to the presently preferred embodiment, bytes pass through the pipeline in five clock cycles.

    摘要: A fracture fixation system includes a plate having a first suture anchor location having an opening at the upper surface of the plate, an opening at the proximal end of the plate, and an opening at the anterior side of the plate and defines first and second suture pathways which cross within the plate. The first and second suture pathways include a common opening. A second suture anchor location on the plate has an opening at the upper surface of the plate, an opening at the proximal end of the plate, and an opening at the posterior side of the plate which defines third and fourth suture pathways which cross within the plate. The third and fourth suture pathways also share a common opening. Thus, each suture anchor location is capable of providing a hold for suture from multiple approaches to secure tuberosities relative to the plate.

    摘要: An intraocular lens (IOL) system includes an optic, a pair of haptics located on sides of the optic, and hinge portions at each of the optic haptic junctions. The hinge portions have stressed and non-stressed configurations. One or more restraining elements are provided to maintain the stressed state configuration of the hinge portion during implantation and during a post-operative period during which the capsular bag of the eye heals about the lens. The restraining elements are thereafter removable, preferably via a non-surgically invasive manner, e.g., via dissolution or laser light. Removal of the restraining elements allows anteriorization of the optic as the lens assumes a non-stressed configuration during accommodation. The ciliary body and lens may then interact in a manner substantially similar to the physiological interaction between the ciliary body and a healthy natural crystalline lens.

    摘要: A system includes a drill guide and a gauge wire. The drill guide has two arms rotatable relative to each other about a hinge, with each arm including a split portion of a guide. When the arms are in a closed configuration, the split portions come together to form a tubular guide. Because the arms can be opened and closed about the hinge, the guide can be split and removed from over a drill bit or pin without first removing the drill bit from the bone or the drill from the drill bit or pin. Each arm also includes a semicircular form which when the arms are closed defines a gauge wire hole parallel to the guide which is sized to receive a gauge wire. The gauge wire includes depth indicia along its length which is used to indicate the length of a fixation device for use in a procedure.
