Abstract:
An electronic device such as watch adapted for wireless communication, the electronic device using a dipole antenna, the dipole antenna having two component parts, each of which being disposed in respective parts of a two-part connecting band, such as a watchband of the electronic device.
Abstract:
A mobile electronic device, such as a smart personal object includes an antenna system for emitting and receiving signals. The antenna system includes at least two antennas electrically connected in parallel to define an equivalent circuit having a reduced inductance with a substantially unaffected induced voltage for the equivalent circuit.
Abstract:
A switched reluctance drive, operating either as a motor or a generator, is controlled in a stable manner in the continuous current mode in the presence of supply voltage or electrical load variation. The use of a current control parameter Ix in addition to the conventional on- and off-angles θon, θoff gives the ability to operate smoothly in the continuous current mode and to transition smoothly between operating modes. Once the phase current reaches a pre-determined level Ix, the phase winding may be placed in a freewheel state, thereby controlling the standing current in the phase winding and/or the output voltage.
Abstract:
A card assembly (20) having multiple layers for matching an article to a vehicle. The card assembly (20) includes a liner (28) having a first adhesive (36) and a first layer (40) along with a second adhesive (38) and a second layer (42). A scoreline (26, 50) extends through the first layer (40), first adhesive (36), and liner (28) to define a tag portion (24, 52) of the card assembly. The tag portion (24, 52) may be removed from the second adhesive (38) to expose a portion of the second adhesive (38), which defines an attachment area (48, 54) of a card portion (22). The card portion (22) may be adhered to a vehicle surface, such as the interior of a window, by the attachment area (48, 54). The removed tag portion (24, 52) may be attached to an article, such as a key set, for matching the article to the vehicle.
Abstract:
Millions of schoolchildren take a ride to and from school on buses every day. Quite frequently we hear about multiple problems with the school buses. The school bus did not arrive on time, the bus did not show up at all, or the time or place of a bus stop has changed without notification—all these problems are unfortunately very common. Today's School Transportation systems do not always work as fast and as reliably as it is reasonably expected. These systems use phone or fax-based communication. These methods are slow, inefficient, and can be catastrophic since children's safety is on the line. Online Schoolchildren Transportation Management Method, System, and Computer Program Products, store data and provide real-time communication between the main participants of the schoolchildren transportation process: school transportation officers, district, county and/or state transportation management, schoolchildren and/or parents, and/or school bus drivers via a Web based network. Embodiments of the present invention allow efficient and streamlined communications between the main participants of the School Children Transportation Process to solve the following: Student's Transportation Change Request and Response; Transportation Information Lookup and Reporting in Real-Time; Transportation Emergencies and Exceptions; Bus Stop Location Change/Addition; Automatic Request/Response Notification Flow; Bus Arrival/Departure information; Management Reporting; Field Trips Request; Special Needs/Handicapped, Front Desk/Call Center Operator and etc. The new system (method, computer program) provides a framework for uniform and standardized information exchange between System Participants, thus guarantying uniform data collection, processing and reporting and opening numerous additional benefits to further utilization of the collected data.
Abstract:
A manufacturing machine assembly for producing an article having a radio frequency identification (RFID) device. The article is fabricated from a continuous sheet of stock with an adhesive layer and a release liner. A printing station prints indicia on the sheet of stock. A cutting station cuts the continuous sheet of stock to form first and second strips. The release liner is removed from the first strip to expose the adhesive layer and an applicator applies a number of the RFID devices to the exposed adhesive layer. Coupling rollers, each having an integral notch, bond the adhesive layer of the first strip with the second strip such that the RFID devices are sandwiched between the first and second strips. Alternatively, the release liner from the second strip may also be removed such that the adhesive layer of the first strip is bonded with the adhesive layer of the second strip to sandwich the RFID devices between the adhesive layers.
Abstract:
A plasma mass spectrometer comprises a plasma torch (1) for generating ions from a sample introduced into a plasma (2), a nozzle-skimmer interface (3,5) for transmitting said ions into a first evacuated chamber (11), ion guiding means (12), an apertured diaphragm (18) dividing said first evacuated chamber (11) from a second evacuated chamber, and an ion mass-to-charge ratio analyzer in the second chamber for producing a mass spectrum. The ion guiding means comprises a multipole rod-set (13,14,15), means for applying an AC voltage between rods in the set, and means (22) for introducing into said ion guiding means an inert gas selected from the group comprising helium, neon, argon, krypton, xenon and nitrogen so that the partial pressure of said inert gas inside said rod-set is at least 10−3 torr. Interfering peaks in the spectrum, such as Ar+, are thereby reduced.
Abstract:
A switched reluctance drive is supplied from a power source and has a DC link capacitor. The phases of the machine are controlled by a current chopping controller which, during phase conduction overlap, controls the initiation of chopping in a second phase so as to minimize the current drawn from the capacitor, thereby allowing a reduction in the capacitor rating.
Abstract:
A dry powder delivery system and method for use, the system having an elongated tube containing a matrix having a measured amount of dry particles of a therapeutic compound and a porous element having a desiccant therein. The porous element with the desiccant can be combined with the powder-containing matrix or it can be two separate elements. The pressure drop induced by inhalation of the user causes air to flow through the tube and into contact with the particles of dry powder for discharging the particles for inhalation by the user.
Abstract:
A transducer circuit, particularly for monitoring current, compensates for offset in the transducer output by sampling the output periodically at a moment at which the output is known, and storing the sampled value as an offset. The offset is compared with subsequent outputs from the transducer to provide a difference signal which is the compensated output of the transducer. When the calibrated output of the transducer is non-zero at the said moment, the non-zero value is added as a reference to the compensated value to correct the magnitude of the transducer output.
