Abstract:
Two orthogonal arrays of ferrite cores wound and connected in series. The arrays are insulated from each other to provide predictable inductance. The arrays preferably form a square inside of which a low-noise amplifier is connected directly to each array, the amplifiers forming a built-in part of the antenna assembly. A design for a small, narrow-band 10 KHz to 14 KHz antenna is described, having a large effective height.

The room temperature efficiency of a carbon monoxide laser is increased by introducing mercury vapor into the gaseous discharge mixture. a further increase in efficiency in the laser is achieved when xenon is introduced into the mixture together with the mercury.
Abstract:
A SELF-FLUXING METHOD FOR JOINTING TWO SURFACES OF ALUMINUM AND ALUMINUM BASE ALLOYS COMPRISING COATING ONE OF THE MATING SURFACE WITH A THIN LAYER OF COPPER, THEN PLACING A THIN LAYER OF TIN OVER THE COPPER, PLACING THE TWO PIECES TO BE JOINTED TOGETHER AND HEATING TO AT LEAST THE EUTECTIC TEMPERATURE FOR A TERNARY ALUMINUM-COPPER-TIN ALLOY SYSTEM. THE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE OF HEATING CAN BE LOWERED BY THE ADDITION OF A SMALL AMOUNT OF SILVER WHICH IS COATED ON THE COPPER BEFORE THE TIN LAYER IS PLACED THEREON.
Abstract:
Various aircraft parameters are sensed by function sensors, the outputs of these sensors being fed to a signal conditioner and evaluator where the signals are processed and the magnitudes of these various parameters evaluated. When the magnitude of any of these parameters is above or below certain predetermined limits, an output signal is fed to a transmitter which transmits a voice message indicating the out-of-limits condition. The occurrence of out-of-limit conditions for any of these parameters is also digitally encoded and recorded for future reference. Certain outputs of the signal evaluator and conditioner indicative of selected aircraft flight and operating conditions are continually fed to a digital data encoder where they are placed in suitable condition for recording in digital form and from where they are fed to a continually recycling recorder for recordation.
Abstract:
A probe is connected to the bottom of a cavity, and a spiraled conductor is connected to the top of the probe, where the outer turns of the spiral are spaced from the cavity top edges to form an electrically small slot. This antenna is fed from the cavity bottom near the probe by the extension of the center conductor of a terminated coaxial line.
Abstract:
For use in a VLG navigation system, such as the Omega Navigation system, a phase tracking loop in a receiver receives incoming signals from transmitting stations. The tracking loop contains four electronically controlled pseudo voltage-controlled oscillators, to eliminate the need for all but one master crystal oscillator, whose outputs provide necessary signals within the receiver. The pseudo oscillator comprises an integrator and a voltage-to-phase converter using an external clock pulse input and suitable control logic. The voltage-to-phase converter comprises a one-shot multivibrator in which the delay time is proportional to the input signal level. Thus, the periods between return times of the one-shot multivibrator to its original state provide a frequency which is controlled by input voltage level. When the phase-shift range exceeds + OR - 90* , the trigger pulse to the one-shot multivibrator is advanced or delayed, and the integrator is reset to zero.
