Abstract:
Cotton-like polytetrafluoroethylene materials are obtained by opening a uniaxially stretched article of molded polytetrafluoroethylene by a mechanical force. Those cotton-like materials comprise the 5 to 150 mm long fibers having branches and crimps and non-uniform section. The cotton-like materials are excellent in intermingling property and can be easily made into non-woven fabrics.
Abstract:
A filter apparatus that is compact and that provides a large filtration area includes filter elements each constructed in cylindrical form by spirally winding a filter medium. Such medium includes a porous membrane of a polytetrafluoroethylene having a pore diameter of 0.1 to 5 .mu.m and low pressure loss and one or a pair of sheets composed of fibers made of a thermally melting synthetic resin. One end of the cylindrical filter element is connected to a respective through hole in a rigid support plate, and the opposite end is blocked.
Abstract:
A magnetic material is provided which includes a discrete phase including grains made of a first substance which comprises a magnetic metal; and a continuous phase including a thin coating film made of a second substance which comprises a dielectric or insulating substance. The thin coating film is formed on the surface of the grains and has a mean thickness smaller than the mean particle size of the grains. The grains are separated substantially from each other by the thin coating film.
Abstract:
A process for producing a multilayer polytetrafluoroethylene porous membrane is disclosed, which process comprises at least two layers having different average pore diameters, the process comprising the steps of: filling the inside of a cylinder of an extruding mold distinctively with at least two kinds of polytetrafluoroethylene fine powders with each of which a liquid lubricant has been mixed; paste-extruding the powders to obtain a multilayer extrudate, which is then optionally rolled; removing the liquid lubricant from the multilayer extrudate or the rolled multilayer extrudate to obtain an unsintered multilayer structure; subsequently heating the unsintered multilayer structure at a temperature not lower than the melting point of sintered polytetrafluoroethylene to obtain a semisintered multilayer structure; and then stretching the semisintered multilayer structure at least monoaxially. A semisintered polytetrafluoroethylene multilayer structure capable of being used as an intermediate material for the above process is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A porous PTFE film having a thin thickness and good permeability is produced by coating an emulsion of polytetrafluoroethylene on a substrate surface, in particular, a porous polytetrafluoroethylene substrate which has not been heated at a melting point of unsintered polytetrafluoroethylene or higher, heating the coated substrate at a temperature not lower than a melting point of sintered polytetrafluoroethylene to semi-sinter polytetrafluoroethylene, optionally removing the semi-sintered polytetrafluoroethylene film from the substrate, and then stretching the semi-sintered film at least in one direction.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing pneumatic tires of different tread patterns by vulcanization building in full mold process is disclosed, which comprises providing a pair of mold members separable at a plane inclusive of a parting face perpendicular to the rotary axis of the tire, determining at least two joining position on these mold members at regular intervals, and properly selecting the joining position of each mold member so as to provide a different tread pattern.
Abstract:
A large size pneumatic rubber tire for bad or rough roads comprises a number of main grooves in a tread of the tire arranged on both sides of a center circumferential line of the tread and in parallel with one another substantially equally oblique to the center circumferential line and a number of auxiliary grooves in the tread substantially in parallel with one another oblique in a direction opposite to the direction of the main grooves to connect the two main grooves adjacent in a circumferential direction. The main and auxiliary grooves have comparatively wide groove widths, respectively, and divide the tread into a center zone and two size zones. These zones respectively consist of circumferentially arranged respectively substantially same shaped center blocks and side blocks defined by the main and auxiliary grooves. The tire according to the invention can effectively eliminate extraordinary temperature rise in the tire without sacrificing the required performances such as wear-resistance, even if under severe operating conditions.
Abstract:
A casing for an interior unit of a split type air conditioner including a one piece, molded fan casing housing an upper wall, a curved rear wall connected to the upper wall, side walls connected to each of upper wall and the curved wall and a separator including a flat portion generally parallel with the upper wall.
Abstract:
This invention relates to an improvement in a pneumatic tire for construction vehicles. The improved tire makes use of a steel cord breaker, but can prevent mechanical and thermal separations in the tire. Breaker rubberized cords are designed to have a gap ratio given by ##EQU1## preferably 0.72 to 0.80, for the purpose of restraining the mechanical separation, where D is a distance between centers of two adjacent cords and d is a diameter of the cord. A tread rubber layer is designed to have a ratio R of a skid base S to a tire section height H given by ##EQU2## FOR THE PURPOSE OF RESTRAINING THE THERMAL SEPARATION.
