A first substrate has a display area and a peripheral area located to surround the display area. The display area includes pixels arranged regularly. The peripheral area includes a sealing member, wiring lines connected to the pixels, and conductive light-blocking members. A second substrate is coupled with the first substrate. A liquid crystal layer is formed between the first and second substrates. The sealing member is formed to overlap with the wiring lines and the light-blocking members in such a way that a non-overlapping area of the sealing member with the wiring lines and the light-blocking members is equal to 25% per unit area of the sealing ember or greater.

    摘要: An optical recording and reproducing method is able to record and reproduce information by using an optical system using recording and reproducing light with a wavelength selected in a range of from 780 nm±10 nm and an objective lens with a numerical aperture NA selected in a range of from 0.45±0.01 and records and reproduces first and second optical recording mediums having different recording capacities. The first optical recording medium is constructed by using a substrate with a track pitch Tp1 being selected in a range of from 1.5 μm to 1.7 μm and a groove depth d1 being selected in a range of from 70 nm to 90 nm, and the second optical recording medium is constructed by using a substrate 11 with a track pitch Tp2 being selected in a range of from 1.2 μm to 1.3 μm and a groove depth d2 of the groove 12 being selected in a range of from 150 nm to 180 nm. This, the optical recording medium has compatibility with existing optical discs and has a recording density high enough to record a moving picture.

    摘要: A pseudo-cubic function generator circuit comprises a CMOS inverter which is applied with a detected voltage of a sensor and supplied with a power supply voltage, and a voltage divider circuit for dividing the power supply voltage, wherein an output terminal of the CMOS inverter is connected to a voltage division point of the voltage divider circuit to generate an output voltage from the voltage division point. The pseudo-cubic function generator circuit can directly generate a large voltage change in a simple circuit configuration with a reduced noise component, and facilitates a setting of each parameter for specifying a cubic function curve. The parameter is set, for example, by scaling substantial gate areas of a P-MOS FET and an N-MOS FET which constitutes the CMOS inverter.

    摘要: An in-plane-switching liquid crystal display unit has a two-dimensional matrix of pixel regions each including a first auxiliary region and a second region. When no electric field is applied, liquid crystal molecules in the first and second regions are directed in respective orientations that lie at 90° with respect to each other. When a voltage is applied, the liquid crystal molecules are rotated in the same direction while maintaining their orientations in the first and second regions at 90° with respect to each other. Alternatively, the liquid crystal molecules in the first and second regions are directed in the same orientation when no electric field is applied, and when a voltage is applied, the liquid crystal molecules are rotated opposite directions while maintaining their orientations in symmetric relationship.
