Abstract:
A method for displaying a menu based on a service environment analysis in a content execution apparatus is disclosed. In accordance with the method for displaying the menu based on the service environment analysis in the content execution apparatus of the present invention, a menu is displayed according to a menu information extracted from a storage media, wherein services available to a user from a content execution apparatus is determined and the menu information is updated according to the availability of services.
Abstract:
Embodiments of modular powerline adapters and their methods of use are generally described herein. An article to transmit and receive signals through an electrical power distribution network comprises: a first module and a second module, wherein the first module comprises an electrical plug to electrically couple to an electrical power outlet receptacle of the electrical power distribution network. The first module and second module further comprise signal connectors, and each module further comprises a housing and a plurality of electrical components located within each housing. The plurality of electrical components transmit and/or receive digital information through the electrical power distribution network. The first and second module's housing comprise mechanical attachment mechanisms to rigidly couple one module to another. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.
Abstract:
A method for providing an additional information of a digital broadcasting application is disclosed. In accordance with the method of the present invention, a base information of a broadcast program and the additional information dynamically extracted based on the base information for a personalization may be provided to a specific viewer or a specific viewer group.
Abstract:
An instrument for measuring the depth of a hole in a bone or other tissue electronically, and for providing a convenient display of information relating to the depth. The surgical depth gauge comprises a probe insertable into the hole with an indented hook for positioning the distal end of the probe against a distal surface of the bone, and a reciprocating member slidably connected to the probe and positionable against a proximal surface of the bone. The probe cooperates with a sensor in an electronic circuit connected to the reciprocating member to produce an electronic signal that changes with the distance between the first surface and the second surface. The electronic circuit comprises a power source and a display. The instrument is robust to contamination and sterilization, and is designed for use by both left and right-handed surgeons.
Abstract:
A first magnetic shield layer of the read head sensor is deposited upon a slider substrate surface. A patterned photoresist is then photolithographically fabricated upon the first magnetic shield layer with openings that are formed alongside the location at which the read sensor will be fabricated. An ion milling step is performed to create pockets within the surface of the magnetic shield layer at the location of the openings in the photoresist layer. The photoresist layer is then removed, and a fill layer is deposited across the surface of the magnetic shield layer in a depth greater than the depth of the pocket. Thereafter, a polishing step is conducted to remove portions of the fill layer down to the surface of the magnetic shield layer. A G1 insulation layer is deposited and a magnetic head sensor element is then fabricated upon the insulation layer.
Abstract:
A flexible straw, having a proximal end and a destal end. The flexible straw comprises a tube and a weight assembly that is located near the distal end. The flexible straw is used in a bottle containing a liquid having a fluid level. The bottle also has a lowest point which is determined by the angle at which the bottle is held. The weight assembly comprises interchangeable weight disks which are selected according to the viscosity of the liquid which is contained within the bottle.
Abstract:
An interconnected heated patio stone and system are disclosed, the stone consisting of a durable, heat-transmitting upper layer, and an insulating lower layer, a heating cable running within the stone, and having two interconnections at the edge of the stone. The interconnection has a bracket to connect with the cable, a receptacle for joining electrically to a bridging connector, and an electrical linkage making an electrical connection available. Each stone is connected with another by a bridging connector, which contains an articulated wire, and has a basin and cap at each end for electrically joining, in a sealed manner, with the receptacle. The system consists of two or more stones interconnected using bridging connectors, the whole system also connected to a power source.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a computing apparatus and to a method for providing a user application to be executed in a media playback apparatus. According to the present invention, the computing apparatus executes a developer application, and tests a user application in the media playback apparatus which is connected to the computer apparatus through a network. Thus, applications stored in a plurality of computing apparatuses can be tested using a single media playback apparatus.
Abstract:
Techniques are described for providing location-based information and functionality to people and computing devices in various ways. In at least some situations, the techniques include enabling multiple people in a common geographic area to interact in various ways, such as via devices capable of communications (e.g., cellular telephones, computing devices with wired and/or wireless communications capabilities, etc.), while in other situations at least some users who are remote from a particular geographic area may be allowed to inter-communicate with one or more other users or other entities in or related to that geographic area. In addition, the techniques include enabling the creation and maintenance of location-based virtual groups of users (also referred to as “clouds”), such as for users of mobile and/or fixed-location devices. Such clouds may enable various types of interactions between group members, and may be temporary and/or mobile.
