摘要: A display includes a polarizing member and a reflective display element behind an EL element. The EL element self-emits light to display information and doubles as a display-use light source for the reflective display element. In a sufficiently bright environment, ambient light enters a liquid crystal layer after passing through a frontal substrate of the reflective display element, and is reflected from a metal electrode to produce displays. In addition to the direct light from the EL element, light that enters the liquid crystal layer is simultaneously used. In a dark environment, the EL element emits light, and displayed contents are visible owing to the reflection from the metal electrode as well as directly exiting light. The structure makes it possible to provide a novel type of display that allows a user to select one of various display modes at his/her own discretion according to surrounding conditions and that also shows information in a clearly visible fashion, be it outdoors under clear skies or in a dark place, without giving up their thin, lightweight features.

摘要: A vehicle lighting apparatus includes means for controlling a deflection angle of a lamp which controls the deflection angle based on an output from a steering angle sensor for detecting the steering direction. The maximum deflection angle is controlled based on a vehicle speed detected by a vehicle speed sensor. When the vehicle is almost in a state of coming to stop, the maximum deflection angle is set to 0°, and the direction of radiation of the lamp is fixed in the straight ahead direction of the vehicle. When the vehicle is in the state of cruising almost at a high speed, the maximum deflection angle is suppressed with increase in vehicle speed, and thus the deflection angle of the lamp is controlled within the angle range around the straight ahead direction, thereby preventing lateral fluctuation of the deflecting direction of the lamp.

摘要: To manufacture at a good yield a large-screen display having low resistivity of wires and excelling in flatness of substrates, a metal material, a transparent electrode material, and a conductive resin are used for forming either scanning electrodes or signal electrodes, or both of the same. Not less than two materials are used as the metal material, while amorphus ITO is used as the transparent electrode material. An electrode substrate has electrode structures in each of which a metal wire made of the foregoing metal material, a transparent electrode made of the foregoing transparent electrode material, and a conductive resin layer are laminated in this order on a transparent substrate. Conductivity is imparted to the conductive resin layers by conductive particles electrodeposited by the micell electrolytic method.

摘要: A method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display element includes the steps of (a) forming a spacer having a uniform height on a glass substrate having formed thereon scanning lines, a black matrix, an insulating layer and an alignment layer in an area to which the black matrix is projected in a direction perpendicular to a substrate surface; (b) forming an adhesive layer on a transfer substrate; (c) pressing an upper surface of the spacer against the adhesive layer on the transfer substrate; and (d) selectively applying an adhesive only onto the upper surface of the spacer by the step (c). In the step (a), it is preferable that the spacer be formed so as to have a trapezoidal cross section with respect to a plane perpendicular to the lengthwise direction.

摘要: A method of controlling an absorption type refrigerating apparatus comprising detecting the temperature of the regenerator, limiting the amount of heating in the regenerator for a first predetermined time after the temperature of the regenerator reaches a predetermined temperature, controlling the amount of heating in the regenerator in accordance with a load when the temperature of the regenerator after the passage of the first predetermined time is lower than the predetermined temperature, abnormally suspending the regenerator by distinguishing a normal rise in the temperature of the regenerator caused by a load fluctuation from a rise in the temperature of the regenerator caused by leakage in the apparatus or the like when the temperature of the regenerator reaches the predetermined temperature within a second predetermined time after the passage of the first predetermined time, thereby avoiding repetitions of operation, suspension or limited operation of the regenerator and suppressing the corrosion of the regenerator.

摘要: In the rear of a collimator lens there is disposed a reflector having a bulb serving as a light source, and a shade is interposed between the collimator lens and bulb. The reflector is mounted by means of a guide engagement mechanism, which is arranged such that guide pins provided in the front edge portion of the reflector are pivotally and slidably engaged with a plurality of guide grooves formed in a guide plate fixed on the side of the collimator to thereby be able to deflect an optical axis. The guide engagement mechanism controls or displaces the reflector by use of a control motor. The shade is fixedly secured on the side of the collimator lens.
