Abstract: The present invention relates to an image processing apparatus and method that can generate a high-accuracy prediction image with a small amount of control information.A motion compensation circuit 51 specifies a macroblock corresponding to a prediction image in a reference frame other than a current frame using a motion vector supplied from a prediction mode determination circuit 41. The motion compensation circuit 51 reads an image of the specified macroblock from a frame memory 19, and extracts the read image as a motion compensation image. An intra-prediction circuit 52 performs intra-prediction on the current frame using an arbitrary method to generate an intra-prediction image IP. The present invention can be applied to, for example, an encoding apparatus and a decoding apparatus.

Abstract: Provided is an encoding apparatus, an encoding method, a decoding apparatus, and a decoding method by which a transmission efficiency and picture quality can be improved. The encoding apparatus encodes an input image by a non-reversible encoding method and transmits identification information for identifying match components that are, from among a plurality of texture components registered in a database, texture components that match with the input image and encoded data obtained by encoding the input image. The decoding apparatus receives the encoded data and the identification information, decodes the encoded data into a decoded image, and synthesizes the texture component as the match component identified by the identification information from among a plurality of texture components registered in a database and the decoded image. The present technology can be applied, for example, to a codec or the like by which an image is encoded and decoded.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an image processing device and method that enable generation of a highly precise prediction image using a small amount of control information. A motion compensation circuit specifies a macroblock corresponding to a prediction image in part of reference frames using a motion vector supplied from a prediction mode determination circuit, reads an image thereof from a frame memory, and extracts it as a motion compensation image. A motion prediction circuit reads, from a frame memory, at least one of the remaining reference frames, performs motion prediction of the motion compensation image MC0 supplied from the motion compensation circuit in each frame, reads an image of a macroblock that matches or is similar to the motion compensation image MC0 from the frame memory, and extracts it as a motion compensation image.

The apparatus and method, for example, may be applied to an image coding apparatus that scalably codes image data or an image decoding apparatus that decodes coded data acquired by performing scalable coding of the image data.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an image processing apparatus and method that can improve encoding efficiency while preventing an increase in load.An extraction circuit 71 of a filtering prediction circuit 64 extracts motion compensation images for generating a prediction image in a high-resolution enhancement layer from reference frames in a low-resolution base layer. A filtering circuit 72 of the filtering prediction circuit 64 performs filtering, which involves upconversion and which uses analysis in the time direction, on a plurality of motion compensation images in the base layer extracted by the extraction circuit 71 to generate a prediction image in the enhancement layer. The present invention can be applied to, for example, an encoding apparatus and a decoding apparatus.
