    Abstract: Provided is an encoding apparatus, an encoding method, a decoding apparatus, and a decoding method by which a transmission efficiency and picture quality can be improved. The encoding apparatus encodes an input image by a non-reversible encoding method and transmits identification information for identifying match components that are, from among a plurality of texture components registered in a database, texture components that match with the input image and encoded data obtained by encoding the input image. The decoding apparatus receives the encoded data and the identification information, decodes the encoded data into a decoded image, and synthesizes the texture component as the match component identified by the identification information from among a plurality of texture components registered in a database and the decoded image. The present technology can be applied, for example, to a codec or the like by which an image is encoded and decoded.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to an image processing device and method that enable generation of a highly precise prediction image using a small amount of control information. A motion compensation circuit specifies a macroblock corresponding to a prediction image in part of reference frames using a motion vector supplied from a prediction mode determination circuit, reads an image thereof from a frame memory, and extracts it as a motion compensation image. A motion prediction circuit reads, from a frame memory, at least one of the remaining reference frames, performs motion prediction of the motion compensation image MC0 supplied from the motion compensation circuit in each frame, reads an image of a macroblock that matches or is similar to the motion compensation image MC0 from the frame memory, and extracts it as a motion compensation image.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an image processing device and an image processing method capable of reducing a processing amount.A selection unit selects a plurality of reference pictures having mutually-different reference picture types from reference pictures represented by reference picture specifying information included in a reference list based on restriction identification information identifying that the reference list that is a list of reference picture specifying information specifying reference pictures of a current picture is used commonly within the current picture. A predicted image generating unit generates a predicted image of the current picture based on a motion vector of a collocated picture of time different from that of the current picture and a reference picture of a same reference picture type as a reference picture type of the collocated picture among the plurality of reference pictures selected by the selection unit. The present disclosure can be applied to an image processing device.

    Abstract: A video coding system, and a method of operation thereof, includes: a source input module for receiving a frame from a video source; and a picture process module, coupled to the source input module, for generating a reference coding unit in the frame; for generating an intra copy motion vector pointing to the reference coding unit within a search range, wherein the search range does not include an upper coding tree unit of the frame; for generating a current coding unit based on the intra copy motion vector; and for generating a video bitstream based on the current coding unit for a video decoder to receive and decode for displaying on a device.
