摘要: A balloon comprising: a center portion having a proximal end, a distal end opposite the proximal end, and a length between the proximal end and the distal end. The center portion comprises: a first nominal diameter and a first radial modulus at the proximal end; a second nominal diameter and a second radial modulus at the distal end; further wherein, the first nominal diameter is equal to the second nominal diameter, such that, when the balloon is inflated to a nominal pressure, the center portion has a constant diameter over the length; and further wherein, the first radial modulus is smaller than the second radial modulus, such that, when the balloon is inflated above a nominal pressure, the center portion adopts a tapered shape in which the proximal end has a first stretched diameter and the distal end has a second stretched diameter, the first stretched diameter being larger than the second stretched diameter.

摘要: An occlusion catheter system includes an inflation catheter member and an occlusion balloon. The proximal and distal balloon ends are connected to the inflation catheter between the proximal and distal catheter ends. A distal pressure sensor is attached to the inflation catheter member between the proximal balloon end and the atraumatic tip. An inflatable spine is connected to the inflation catheter. The proximal spine end is connected to the inflation catheter near the proximal balloon end and the distal spine end is connected to the inflation catheter near the distal balloon end. The occlusion balloon and the inflatable spine are configured to define blood flow channels with the internal surface and the external balloon surface when the occlusion catheter system is at least partially positioned in the vessel and the occlusion balloon and the inflatable spine are in a partially inflated configuration.

摘要: A medical balloon includes an outer layer and an inner layer. The outer layer has a surface texture or formation such as a scoring element. The inner layer is made of a reflow material which during production of the balloon from a raw tubing will soften and flow into internal recesses in the outer layer, thereby filling these recesses and providing support to the outer layer formations so as to avoid flattening of these formations during use of the balloon. The balloon can be manufactured in a single formation step from a raw tubing having the outer and inner reflow layer coextruded.

摘要: A balloon catheter comprises a catheter and a balloon located on the distal end of the catheter. A pair of stimulating electrodes for receiving a constant current stimulating signal when the balloon is inflated with an electrically conductive medium and a plurality of sensing electrodes for producing voltage response signals are located on the catheter. The voltage response signals are indicative of the values of the transverse cross-sectional area of the balloon adjacent the sensing electrodes. A first lumen accommodates the inflating medium to and from the balloon, and a second lumen accommodates electrically conductive wires to the stimulating and sensing electrodes. A pressure sensing element is located in a protective housing in the second lumen, and communicates through a communicating opening in the protective housing and through a communicating port in the catheter with a hollow interior region of the balloon. The balloon catheter may also be provided with a guide wire engaging element for engaging a guide wire externally of the balloon catheter.

摘要: The present disclosure is directed toward a semi-compliant to non-compliant, conformable balloon useful in medical applications. Conformable balloons of the present disclosure exhibit a low straightening force when in a curved configuration and at inflation pressures greater than 4 atm. Balloons of the present disclosure are constructed of material that can compress along an inner length when the balloon is in a curved configuration. In further embodiments, balloons of the present disclosure can be constructed of material that sufficiently elongates along an outer arc when the balloon is in a curved configuration. As a result, medical balloons, in accordance with the present disclosure, when inflated in a curved configuration, exhibit kink-free configurations and do not cause a significant degree of vessel straightening.

摘要: A method of treating a patient's joint having opposing joint surfaces includes providing an elongate member having a proximal end, a distal end and an expandable member near the distal end. The expandable member is positioned in the joint between the joint surfaces and expanded so as to separate the joint surfaces away from one another into a distracted position. The joint is manipulated while in the distracted position so that the joint is distracted and in flexion. A diagnostic or therapeutic procedure is then performed on the joint while maintaining the joint in the flexed and distracted position.

摘要: A measuring balloon has an inner bulbous balloon formed from a non-compliant or semi-compliant material and has a central smaller diameter inner waist and two larger diameter bulbs on each side of the inner waist. A compliant outer waist bladder is located on the outside of the inner bulbous balloon adjacent to the inner waist and is inflated via a separate inflation lumen. The inner balloon is inflated at a higher pressure to dilate stenotic aortic valve leaflets, and provide alignment and positioning of the measuring balloon across the aortic annulus. The bladder waist is inflated to a lower pressure to make contact with the aortic valve annulus. Marker bands positioned on the outside of the measuring balloon provide determination of annulus diameter and ovality.

One system includes an elongate catheter having a proximal end and a distal end with an axis therebetween, the catheter having a radially expandable balloon near the distal end and an energy delivery portion proximate the balloon for transmission of energy, a thermally changeable coating having a releasable drug coupled to the balloon, the thermally changeable coating being oriented to be urged against the body tissue when the expandable balloon expands and an energy source operatively coupled to the energy delivery portion configured to energize the energy delivery portion to heat and liquefy the thermally changeable coating to release the drug to the body tissue.

摘要: A drug coated balloon (DCB) catheter (4) has a connector (8), a shaft (20) extending from a proximal end (24) to a distal end (28) along an axial direction (X-X) and has a guidewire lumen (32) and an inflation lumen (36), the shaft being connected to the connector (8) on said proximal end (24), wherein the shaft (20) being provided with an inflatable balloon (48), fluidically connected with said inflation lumen (36) in order to be selectively inflated and/or deflated. Advantageously, the balloon (48) is coated with a drug to be delivered on a target lesion, an external wall (52) of the shaft (20), opposite to said lumens (32,36), is covered with a lubricant, and said guidewire lumen (32) is internally covered with a lubricant.
