摘要: Systems, methods, and connectors are provided that introduce a working gas at certain times into a reduced-pressure dressing into order to break or avoid vacuum locks in the conduits removing fluids. In one instance, a reduced-pressure connector includes a connector body for applying a reduced pressure to the tissue site. The connector body is formed with a venting port, a body conduit, and a receptacle to receive a reduced-pressure delivery conduit. The reduced-pressure connector includes a flexible member coupled to the connector body over the venting port. The flexible member is formed with at least one venting aperture. The flexible member is biased away from the venting port and is configured to collapse and seal the venting port under a reduced pressure greater than a threshold pressure. Other systems, apparatuses, and methods are disclosed.

摘要: Drug delivery connectors are provided for permitting and blocking fluid flow between a container and a catheter connector or other drug delivery site. Embodiments of the drug delivery connectors include a ball valve for forming a releasable seal within the drug delivery connectors. In one or more embodiments, the ball valve prevents fluid flow between an open proximal end and an open distal end of the drug delivery connector and is movable in a proximal direction to release the releasable seal to permit fluid flow from the open proximal direction to the open distal direction. Methods of delivering medication to a catheter connector that includes an actuator are also provided

摘要: A medical valve transitions between an open mode that permits fluid flow, and a closed mode that prevents fluid flow. To that end, the valve has a housing with an inlet and an outlet, and a movable member with a member channel therethrough. The movable member is movable to cause the valve to transition from the closed mode to the open mode after insertion of a medical implement into the inlet. The member channel fluidly communicates the inlet and the outlet when in the open mode. The valve also has a resilient member with a member flow path in fluid communication with the outlet. The movable member slides along the resilient member when transitioning between the open mode and the closed mode. The resilient member normally has a flange (about the member flow path) that is compressed by the movable member. The flange fluidly disconnects the member flow path from the member channel when in the closed mode.

摘要: A contrast fluid delivery method and system includes a multiple-reuse filling section for attachment by conduit to a contrast fluid supply container, and a delivery section that is removably attached to the filling section for delivering contrast fluid held in the filling section to a patient. The filling section includes a main body having a fluid chamber, a contrast fluid filling inlet with a gravity-operated valve, an opening for connecting an operable power syringe, and a contrast fluid outlet fed through a spring-loaded one-way check valve. The delivery section includes a first delivery conduit connected between the contrast fluid outlet of the main body and the fluid inlet of an inline aspirator syringe, and a second delivery conduit connected at one end to a fluid outlet of the aspirator syringe and at the other to a catheter for delivering the contrast fluid to a patient. The aspirator syringe includes a spring-loaded plunger that is operatively depressed and released to confirm and assure patency of the delivery line before sustained injection of the desired volume of contrast agent. The filling section is isolated from contamination by the downstream delivery section and may be used repeatedly for successive patients, whereas the delivery section is discarded and replaced after each patient use.

摘要: A foot pedal evacuates debris and fluid from the field of view of a camera during arthroscopic procedures. In a first embodiment, the foot pedal houses a ball check valve to control fluid flow, and includes a base and a foot support hingedly mounted to one another. The foot support includes a valve actuator that opens the ball check valve by distorting the shape of its valve seat. The ball check valve includes a pair of connectors at the ends of the valve adapted to accept irrigation tubing. The connectors are in axial alignment with one another in a first embodiment and in parallel relation to one another in a second embodiment. A third embodiment eliminates the ball check valve and a spring-loaded lever pinches a tube to prevent fluid flow. Depression of the foot support overcomes the bias of the spring so that liquid fluid flows through the tube.
