    摘要: A foam extrusion system and method employs a horizontal vacuum chamber with a bulkhead and extrusion die at one end of the chamber, the extrusion die being inside the chamber when the bulkhead is closed. A liquid baffle, preferably water, is provided at the opposite end of the chamber through which the extrudate passes from the chamber to atmosphere. The baffle comprises a pond of liquid having a higher level in the chamber and a lower level outside the chamber. The higher level of the pond is formed between a dam plate and a seal plate, the latter forming the opposite end of the chamber. The seal plate includes a size adjustable window through which the extrudate passes, the extrudate being guided by a conveyor to extend inclined downwardly into the pond and to exit through the seal plate and pond with a large radius upwardly curved section. The level of liquid in the chamber is controlled by circulating liquid from the higher level of the pond within the chamber to the lower level of the pond outside the chamber with the amount of liquid circulated being inversely proportional to the absolute pressure in the vacuum chamber. Optionally the circulated liquid may pass through a cooler to control the liquid temperature. The size adjustment of the window or exit orifice in the seal plate may be used to control the flow of liquid from the lower level pond portion outside the chamber to the higher level pond portion inside the chamber, particularly during start up.

    摘要: A method for preparing a multi-cellular foamed board of thermoplastic resin which comprises forming under pressure in a die a thermoplastic resin melt containing a foaming agent to give the resin melt a shape of a flat board having a broad width compared with a thickness thereof, extruding the resin melt from the die having the convex forward end with a middle portion in the width direction thereof protruding the greatest toward the extruding direction, introducing thus extruded resin melt immediately into a moulding passage having a concave end engaging with the said convex forward end of the die, allowing the resin melt to expand in the thickness direction at the portion adjacent to and extending along the concave end of the passage, and thereafter allowing the resin melt to expand in both the thickness and width directions of the board in the passage.

    摘要: A process for producing a foamed synthetic resin body comprising continuously extruding a foamable thermoplastic resin extrudate composition from an extruder die into a reduced pressure zone, subjecting the extrudate to an expansion molding step, a cooling-hardening step and a cutting step while transporting the extrudate through the reduced pressure zone to obtain a foamed piece of predetermined length, shutting off a portion of the reduced pressure zone surrounding the foamed piece from the other portion thereof when the foamed piece has reached a specified position to restore the foamed piece surrounding portion to a normal pressure, subsequently discharging the foamed piece into the atmosphere, and thereafter bringing the surrounding portion into communication with the reduced pressure zone again upon reducing the pressure. Foamed resin bodies of desired expansion ratio and shape can be prepared continuously with high cooling efficiency. An apparatus for practicing the process is also disclosed. Such apparatus includes means to form a continuous length of extrudate within a vacuum chamber and means to cut the extrudate to length and means to pass the cut extrudate into a second chamber, and then to cause the cut length to exit the second chamber without affecting the reduced pressure in the chamber or reduced pressure zone.

The outstanding method comprises extruding a single foam sheet or coextruding a thermoplastic film and an amorphous polystyrene foam layer to form the two-layer sheet, bringing the sheet to its orientation temperature, stretching the two-layer sheet at its orientation temperature in at least a longitudinal direction to provide a dimensionally stable, storable, oriented polystyrene foam sheet or a thermoplastic film/amorphous polystyrene foam layer sheet, printing on the oriented sheet to decorate the same, and heat shrinking the sheet to form a final attractive, decorated structure.
