    摘要: A storage reel for evenly winding and unwinding heavy electrical feeder cable is mounted on the side of a mining vehicle. The storage reel is mounted so as to be stationary on the vehicle. The orbital carriage revolves around the reel evenly winding or unwinding the cable. The reel is shaped in an elongated oblong to maximize the cable storage for use on restricted low profile mining equipment. The device is suited for use on vehicles in mining operations and does not require the use of split rings, rotating collector rings, brushes, or the like for electrical connection, but permits power to pass through the cable from the power source to the vehicle without intervening electrical connectors.

    摘要: A method of preparing glass fiber strands is shown wherein the glass fibers as they are drawn from the glass fiber forming bushing are wound in a unique way. The fibers are drawn from the bushings using high speed, low energy drawing devices such as capstans and godets. They are then passed to high speed, low energy flyers for distribution onto the surface of light weight, low energy, slowing rotating mandrels. All the winding equipment and the attenuation devices are light in weight requiring very low horsepower motors compared to the high horsepower, high energy devices of the current state of the art. The flyers are shown driven by conventional motors or by a compressed air system. Collection of the strand takes place on the ends of the elongated mandrels shown and create a novel doughnut shaped forming package of fiber glass with properly distributed strands thereon suitable for unwinding.

There is provided a drum to receive a flexible member. A drum flange is attached to the drum for supporting the drum either on or off its base whereon the drum and flange are mounted. A cover means is rotatably mounted on and adjacently encircling an outer circumference of the drum and can form with the drum flange an endwise confinement for the flexible member wound on the drum. A hollow crank handle is pivotably attached to the cover means to internally guide the flexible member to or from the drum as relative rotation takes place therebetween.

    摘要: Disclosed is a method of and a device for producing bundles of hollow fibers such as used for dialysis. The device includes a guiding device for a continuous fiber which rotates in a plane. At least two groups of take-up elements are mounted on a conveyor. The conveyor is intermittently activated so that a group of take-up elements is placed in a working position in the range of movement of the guiding device, and a strand of a desired thickness is wound around the take-up elements. Thereafter, the conveyor is activated to discharge the first group together with the completed strand from the working position and place the subsequent empty group of take-up elements in the working position, without interruption of movement of the guiding device. During the winding-up of the subsequent strand, the completed strand is cut and wrapped into bundles.

    摘要: A yarn conditioning plant for processing of yarn at high temperature is improved by provision of arrangements for enabling a plurality of yarn threads that have simultaneously been processed upon a single yarn transport to be wound individually upon separate spools. In accordance with a first preferred embodiment, a tension balancing means is provided which includes a potentiometer that is acted upon by the thread tension of yarn threads passing thereover so as to control the operating speed of individually driven spools. According to a further embodiment, the tension of the individual yarn threads is compensated by the use of two separate storage devices upon which the individual processed yarns can be separately wound in a manner so as to achieve a uniform tensioning thereof.

    摘要: A single-twist wire stranding or bunching machine having a reciprocating flyer traversing the length of a take-up reel and rotating coaxially with respect thereto, such take-up reel being mounted within pivoting means to facilitate easy removal of the reel after it is fully wound with wire. The invented machine comprises electro-mechanical means for automatically controlling the uniformity of the lay length of the twisted wire by correcting for changes in the velocity of the wire being fed into the machine due to wire build-up on the reel or to reversals of the traversing flyer. Additional control means are also disclosed for automatically controlling the points at which the flyer, in its reciprocating motion, reverses direction, thereby minimizing wire accumulations or recesses at the end flanges of the reel.
