摘要: An energy absorber comprises a helically coiled stores of at least partially yielding material that is drawn over a roller, or two rollers on perpendicular rotational axes, and securely fixed to a base that is attached to fragile structure such as a roof so that when an external force of sufficient size is applied to the roller or rollers through a connecting attachment eye the coil together with roller or rollers moves away from the attachment to the base whilst the coiled material is deployed over the roller or rollers. The absorber may be housed in a casing that is fixed to the base such that the strength of the fixing to the base is sufficient to withstand a pre-determined load after which the fixing fails and the housing moves with the coiled store providing protection for both the coiled store and fragile structure.

摘要: An energy absorbing device for a collapsible steering column has a plurality of plastically deformable straps each with one end connected to the steering column and an opposite end bent around an anvil connected to stationary vehicle support structure. When the steering column collapses, the straps unwind from the anvils, thereby resisting steering column collapse and absorbing energy. One or more of the straps may be cut in two by a knife at the time of the collision, thereby removing it from the energy absorbing system. In another form of the invention, an energy absorbing strap extends around a piston which has two or more different size anvils. The piston is axially movable in a cylinder to positions surrounding one or another of the anvils. The strap is drawn over the anvil it surrounds when the steering column collapses, thereby resisting collapse of the steering column and absorbing a certain amount of energy depending on the size of the anvil.

摘要: An elasto-plastic damper to protect a building from destructive impact of seismic tremors and/or high winds. The damper is a cylindrical shaft with a constricted waist portion adapted to yield uniformly throughout its length to an external force from any direction in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the waist portion. This elasto-plastic deformation of the damper dissipates the energy of seismic and/or wind impact throughout its range of elastic deformation. The ends of the damper are threaded to facilitate threaded fastener engagement with structural and non-structural members of building.

摘要: A steering rod for motor vehicles includes a guide rod or a cross guide. After an overload by a tension force, the steering rod changes geometrically to clearly influence the driving behavior of a motor vehicle. For this purpose, the steering rod has a transmission rod (2) set into a pipe (1) for the transmission of tension forces. The transmission rod (2) at one end is held into the pipe (1) by a force-fitting or form-fitting holding device, and at the other end projects out of the pipe end (11). The transmission rod (2) has, between the holding device and the pipe end (11) a desired breaking point (9). An offset (10) is located between the desired breaking point (9) and the pipe end (11). The pipe (1) is provided, between the offset (10) and the pipe end (11), with a pipe narrowing which forms a stop (12) for the offset (10) in case of rupture of the desired breaking point (9).

摘要: A brake for a rockfall protection net includes a housing, at least three rolling shafts, and a metallic deformed plate. Force exerting sections of the rolling shafts are movably arranged in the housing and parallel with each other. At least one rolling shaft is not located on a same plane where the other rolling shafts are located. A first end of the metallic deformed plate penetrates into the housing from a back end of the housing and stretches out from a front end of the housing. A deformed section of the metallic deformed plate is located in the housing.
