摘要:
One embodiment of an ammonia gas sensor includes: a reference electrode, an ammonia selective sensing electrode and an electrolyte disposed therebetween. The sensing electrode comprises the reaction product of a main material selected from the group consisting of vanadium, tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium oxides, tungsten oxides, molybdenum oxides, and combinations comprising at least one of the foregoing main materials, and an electrically conducting material selected from the group consisting of electrically conductive metals, electrically conductive metal oxides, and combinations comprising at least one of the foregoing.

A gas detection chamber in which a gas sensing element is provided to detect a component of a gas allowed into the gas detection chamber is heated by a heater, and an output of the heater is regulated by a heater regulator. The heater regulator is adapted to cause the heater to continue to heat the gas detection chamber (preferably but not necessarily, the output of the heater is caused to lower) when an anomaly detection device detects an anomaly of the gas sensing element.
摘要:
A method, test reagent and device usable as a test strip for detecting toxic ammonia levels in water samples such as aquarium water. The volume of the water to be tested contacted with a soda lime reagent to raise the pH to at least 10, and simultaneously contacted with a hydrophobic barrier membrane capable of allowing only ammonia gas to pass through. The membrane is coated with a pH chromogenic indicator mixture which changes color if ammonia gas passes through. The color response of the sample is compared with standard color charts to determine the toxic ammonia potential.

A gas sensor, whose chamber uses filters and choppers in either a semicircular geometry or annular geometry, and incorporates separate infrared radiation filters and optical choppers. This configuration facilitates the use of a single infrared radiation source and a single detector for infrared measurements at two wavelengths, such that measurement errors may be compensated.
摘要:
A method of determining the amount of nitrogen in a gas mixture. The constituent gases of the mixture are dissociated and transformed to create a substance that may measured using nondispersive infrared adsorption techniques.

In an ammonia sensor (1), lead portions (7) and (9) are provided on an insulating substrate (5); a pair of comb-shaped electrodes (11) and (13) are connected to the lead portions (7) and (9), respectively; a sensitive layer (15) is provided on the comb-shaped electrodes (11) and (13); and a protective layer (17) is provided on the sensitive layer (15). Particularly, the sensitive layer (15) is formed of a gas-sensitive raw material predominantly containing ZrO2 and containing at least W in an amount of 2 to 40 wt. % as reduced to WO3.

An apparatus for measuring the concentration of ammonia gas, including a solid electrolyte body having oxygen ion conductivity, a reference electrode formed on a first inner surface of the solid electrolyte body and contacting a reference gas, a detecting electrode formed on a second outer surface of the solid electrolyte body and containing a noble metal and/or a metal oxide therein, a Pd catalyst layer formed on an outer surface of the detecting electrode and including a Pd-containing porous body, and a heater element for heating the solid electrolyte body.

A method for detecting Helicobacter pylori in a subject's gastroenteral tract involves measuring a change in resistance of an electronic or electrochemical sensor, notably a polypyrrole film, on exposure to gas from the subject's lungs and/or stomach. Depending on the magnitude of the change (if any) a positive or negative result is indicated visually by electronics means. Two sensors are used, one of which receives a sample of gas which has passed through an amonia-absorbing means to provide a corrected baseline value for the ammonia. The invention also provides apparatus suitable for carrying out the method.

The invention is directed to an electrochemical cell for measuring ammonia, amines, hydrazine and hydrazine derivatives and includes a measuring electrode in an electrolyte. The measuring electrode is provided with a coating made of a transition metal oxide and is improved in that its measuring sensitivity during long-term loading is increased. The cross sensitivity of the measuring cell is reduced especially with respect to NO.sub.2 and SO.sub.2. For this purpose, the oxide constituents of the coating are made of a metal conducting oxide of one element or an oxide mixture of several elements of the platinum metal group. Oxides of ruthenium and iridium have proven especially useful. The invention is also directed to an electrochemical measuring cell for measuring ammonia or hydrazine and includes at least a measuring electrode and a counter electrode in an electrolyte. The measuring cell provides a signal increase having a shorter response time and an improved signal stability. For this purpose, the electrolyte is an aqueous solution of a hygroscopic salt of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal such as calcium nitrate or lithium nitrate or a mixture of both salts.
