摘要: Embodiments of the present disclosure describe a gas sensor comprising a gas-sensing material including a metal-organic framework with fcu topology and a substrate with a pair of electrodes proximate to the gas-sensing material, wherein the gas sensor is configured to detect toxic gas. Embodiments of the present disclosure further describe a method of detecting gas comprising contacting a gas sensor including a metal-organic framework with fcu topology with a gas/vapour composition including at least one toxic gas, capturing the at least one toxic gas from the fluid composition, and measuring an electrical property to detect a presence of the at least one toxic gas.

摘要: A method for measuring ammonia in a blood sample may involve positioning the blood sample in proximity with an ammonia gas sensor, generating a current with the ammonia gas sensor in response to ammonia gas released from the blood sample, and measuring the current generated by the ammonia gas sensor, using a current measurement member coupled with the ammonia gas sensor. A device for measuring an ammonia level in a blood sample may include a blood sample containment member, an ammonia gas sensor coupled with the blood sample containment member, and a current measurement member coupled with the ammonia gas sensor. The method and device may be used to measure an ammonia level in a blood sample as small as one drop of blood, or approximately 0.05 mL of blood.

摘要: Provided is a gas sensor which is capable of preferably sensing an ammonia gas, and has excellent durability. A mixed-potential gas sensor includes a sensor element composed of an oxygen-ion conductive solid electrolyte, and a heater provided inside the element. The sensor element includes on a surface thereof a sensing electrode formed of a cermet including Pt, Au and an oxygen-ion conductive solid electrolyte, and also includes a reference electrode formed of a cermet of Pt and an oxygen-ion conductive solid electrolyte, and a porous electrode protective layer whose porosity is 5 to 40% covering at least the sensing electrode. The Au abundance ratio in a surface of noble metal particles forming the sensing electrode is 0.4 or more. The concentration of an ammonia gas is determined on the basis of a potential difference occurring between the sensing electrode and the reference electrode when the sensor element is disposed in a measurement gas and heated to 400° C. to 800° C.

摘要: In one embodiment, active (continuous or intermittent) passivation may be employed to prevent interaction of sticky molecules with interfaces inside of an instrument (e.g., an infrared absorption spectrometer) and thereby improve response time. A passivation species may be continuously or intermittently applied to an inlet of the instrument while a sample gas stream is being applied. The passivation species may have a highly polar functional group that strongly binds to either water or polar groups of the interfaces, and once bound presents a non-polar group to the gas phase in order to prevent further binding of polar molecules. The instrument may be actively used to detect the sticky molecules while the passivation species is being applied.

The electrolyte preferably is comprised of (I) water, propylene carbonate, ethylene carbonate or a mixture thereof as solvent; (ii) LiCl, KCl, tetrabutylammonium toluenesulphonate or 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium tris(pentafluoroethyl)trifluorophosphate as conductive salt; and (iii) tert-butylhydroquinone or anthraquinone-2-sulphonate as organic mediator.
