    摘要: A color-to-monochrome image conversion technique is disclosed. After the color image is converted to a monochrome input image and a plurality of primary-color input images, boundary information is extracted from the plurality of primary-color input images. The boundary information discriminates between different colors with the same lightness in the color image. Thereafter, the boundary information is superimposed as a binary image on the monochrome input image to produce the monochrome image. Therefore, a boundary between different colors with the same lightness can be easily imagined and be visibly displayed.

    摘要: A color image input from a document image inputting unit is converted into a gray-scale image by a brightness image extracting unit. The gray-scale image is then converted into an image having a higher resolution according to the resolution of the original gray-scale image. When this conversion is performed, subpixels are generated between the original pixels, and the values of the subpixels are obtained with an interpolation method. Furthermore, a threshold value for a binarization process is generated by using an original pixel value and a subpixel value. The characters included in the binarized image are recognized by a binary image recognizing unit, and a recognition result is output from a recognition result outputting unit.

    摘要: When a monochromatic image is reproduced, a user can select desired mixing coefficients of red, green and blue in order to control gradation data for the reproduction of a monochromatic image as well as a monochromatic reproduction color. When a document is automatically determined not to be a color document, the mixing coefficients of red, green and blue are changed according to the type of the document. If a monochromatic copy mode is selected, the mixing coefficients can be set manually. Preferably, in order to help a user to select mixing coefficients, a plurality of images of monochromatic colors of various mixing coefficients of red, green and blue can be printed on a single sheet of paper.

    摘要: A method and apparatus are provided for producing a rastered gray composite proof in which the color values of the chromatic printing inks "cyan", "magenta" and "yellow" are united to brightness-equivalent gray scale values for simple advance monitoring of a color printing. The gray scale values to be printed on the gray composite proof are corrected compared to the gray scale values of the chromatic printing inks for the color printing represented by the color separation values, being corrected to different percentage parts that respectively correspond to the subjectively sensed brightness impression of the chromatic printing inks relative to "black". The color separation values of the chromatic printing inks are converted into individual bit maps by different raster functions such that the recorded pixels of the chromatic printing inks lie next to one another on the recording material. The individual bit maps of the chromatic printing inks are united to form an overall bit map by an OR operation. The control bits of the overall bit map control a black-and-white printer that prints the gray composite proof on the recording material pixel-by-pixel, whereby the control bits of the overall bit map decide whether the pixel is printed as raster points or parts of the raster points or is not printed.

    摘要: An image processing apparatus in which a color identifier identifies the color of an input image based on an input color-image signal. A luminance detector detects luminance information in the input color-image signal. An image generator generates a predetermined pattern which is indicative of the color identified by the color identifier. A measurement device measures the luminance distribution of the detected luminance signal which is outside an area in which color is identified by the color identifier. The output density of the input color-image signal is set in accordance with the measured luminance distribution, and an output monochromatic image is produced in which colors of the input image are identified by the predetermined patterns.
