摘要： An image processing apparatus in which a color identifier identifies the color of an input image based on an input color-image signal. A luminance detector detects luminance information in the input color-image signal. An image generator generates a predetermined pattern which is indicative of the color identified by the color identifier. A measurement device measures the luminance distribution of the detected luminance signal which is outside an area in which color is identified by the color identifier. The output density of the input color-image signal is set in accordance with the measured luminance distribution, and an output monochromatic image is produced in which colors of the input image are identified by the predetermined patterns.

摘要： An image processing apparatus having a first mode for processing electrical signals by a pre-scan operation and a second mode for processing electrical signals by a main scan operation. The first mode forms a histogram on the basis of electrical signals obtained by the pre-scan operation, and detects predetermined feature points from the formed histogram. A table is formed for converting signal levels of the electrical signals according to the detected predetermined feature points of the histogram based on the image type of the original. The second mode generates reproduction signals from electrical signals obtained by the main scan operation in accordance with the table.

摘要： Even when a CPU gains higher performance and a distributed computing environment is being put in place, it is not easy to follow the speed of hardware image processing implemented by dedicated hardware. Hence, jobs of filter processing having a heavy operation load and low distributability are selectively and intensively input to a small number of resources having performance as high as possible. On the other hand, since the color conversion processing and gamma processing have high distributability, even when jobs are input to many resources having low performance, an improvement of the processing speed can be expected. Therefor, color conversion processing and gamma processing distribute jobs to many resources.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit for forming images onto sheets in either one of a first mode for sequentially forming the images onto the sheets from a last page and a second mode for sequentially forming the images onto the sheets from a front page. The apparatus also includes a rotation processing unit for rotating the image in the direction of 180.degree. for the direction of the image in the first mode before the image forming unit forms the images in the second mode. The apparatus further includes a tray for stacking the sheets, a reversing path for reversing the sheet in the second mode, a conveying path for conveying the sheets formed with the images by the image forming unit to the tray directly or through the reversing path, and a stapler for performing a stapling on an upstream side in the conveying direction in the sheet and on a left side or a right side in the conveying direction. The stapler performs the stapling on the left side in the conveying direction in the first mode and on the right side in the conveying direction in the second mode.

摘要： A multi-function apparatus which is capable of properly coping with cases where an auto-clear function is activated to thereby improve operability after execution of the function. The operating section of a copying machine displays an operating screen associated with each function and receives inputs via the operating screen. According to the auto-clear function, set values associated with predetermined functions are reset to initial values when no input operation has been performed via the operating section over a predetermined time period, and the operating section is caused to display an operating screen associated with a predetermined function. A controller unit of the machine determines whether the copying machine should be operated in a first mode in which disconnection from the network is carried out or in a second mode in which connection to the network is maintained. The controller unit selects one of the first mode and the second mode based on a result of the determination.
