Abstract: A video-enabled communication system includes a camera to acquire an image of a local participant during a video communication session and a control unit that selects a lighting configuration for the local participant to be captured by the camera for provision to a remote endpoint for display to another participant. The lighting configuration selection is based on information describing a local participant or context of the video communication session. The processor conditions a change from providing, to the remote participant endpoint for display, a first image captured under a first lighting configuration selected at a first time to a second image captured under a different lighting configuration selected at a second time upon a difference between the first and second times having at least a threshold magnitude.

Abstract: Combinations of solid state light emitters, optionally arranged to stimulate one or more lumiphoric materials, are used to illuminate surfaces (e.g., upright surfaces) including printed material produced with CMY or CMYK inks. Vibrancy and/or efficacy may be enhanced by increasing the effective steepness of printed ink reflectance wavelength boundaries by illuminating printed material with solid state light emitters of multiple colors having tailored boundaries (e.g., increased separation between colors and/or increased energy in spectral areas highly reflected by CMY inks, or reducing energy of emissions at wavelengths to which the human eye is less sensitive). Lighting devices may include multiple operating modes having different gamut properties (e.g., relative gamut values). One or more subregions of an upright surface bearing printed material may be preferentially illuminated with an array of solid state light emitters including multiple emitters having different peak wavelengths.

Abstract: A cubicle unit includes a first illumination apparatus, a second illumination apparatus, a sensor, and a controller. When a brightness sensed by the sensor is a predetermined brightness or less, the controller causes the second illumination apparatus to emit light having a first color temperature lower than a color temperature of light emitted by the first illumination apparatus. When the brightness sensed by the sensor is greater than the predetermined brightness, the controller causes the second illumination apparatus to emit light having a second color temperature lower than the first color temperature.

Abstract: A microcontroller-based multifunctional electronic switch uses a detection circuit design to convert external motion signals into message carrying sensing signals readable to the microcontroller. Based on the time length of sensing signals and the format of the sensing signals received in a preset instant period of time the microcontroller through the operation of its software program codes written in the OTPROM is able to recognize the working modes chosen by the external signal generating user and thereby selecting the appropriate loops of subroutine for execution. The system and method of the present invention may simultaneously be applicable to detection circuit design using infrared ray sensor, electrostatic induction sensor, conduction based touch sensor or push button sensor for performing multifunction such as controlling the on/off switch, the illumination power and the color temperature within the capacity of a single lighting device or an electrical appliance.

Abstract: A low-voltage alternating current-based LED light with built-in cooling and automatic or manual dimming. As it is self-cooled with fan failure protection, the light can be safely run in conditions that are near-hostile to its operation, with little possibility of damage. The light is movable along the XY axes of a grid system and can be either fixed in position in the Z axis or can be movable up and down the Z axis. The light can be equipped with either manual dimming using a standard potentiometer, or with automatic dimming via sensors and local network connectivity. The device prevents line-voltage electric shocks as the input voltage is low-voltage AC; in embodiments, about the same voltage as a doorbell, and the input current is 3 A. The device is also self-cooled, and will shut down if its fan is not running so as to prevent thermal overloads.

Abstract: An electrical wiring device includes a manually adjustable switch, a light emitting diode (LED), a light level sensor, and a microcontroller. The wiring device also optionally includes an occupancy sensor. Light level is sensed through a light pipe and light is emitted by the LED through the same light pipe. When the manually adjustable switch is positioned to energize a load, the LED is deactivated and ambient light level is sensed by light sensors through the light pipe. The ambient light level is compared to a minimum ambient light level to determine if the load will be energized. Alternatively, the LED is deactivated and the ambient light level is sensed through the light pipe when the switch is positioned to de-energize the load. This ambient light level is stored and compared to the minimum ambient light level at a time when the switch is later positioned to energize the load.
