    Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to piece-part, sub-assembly, assembly, and component levels of a differential composed of a sun gear configuration and utilized in an integrated drive generator. An integrated drive generator is a hydro-mechanical transmission that drives a synchronous salient pole generator. The integrated drive generator is a constant speed output, variable speed input transmission that includes the differential and a hydraulic unit. In general, the integrated drive generator utilizes the variable speed input from an accessory gear box of an engine to drive or control a hydraulic unit, which in turn drives or controls a churn leg member of the differential. As the differential is driven, speeds of each speed member of the differential are then summed to generate the constant speed output to drive the synchronous salient pole generator.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a gear-driven bearing unit comprising a housing (110), a drive gear (120) and a rolling element bearing, the rolling element bearing comprising: an outer member (130) provided with teeth (135) for meshing with teeth of the drive gear, an inner member (141, 142) and at least one row of rolling elements (151, 152) disposed between the inner and outer members. At one axial side of the unit, the housing is connected to the inner member and encloses the outer member. At the opposite axial side, there is a first radial gap between a radially inner surface of the outer member and a radially outer surface of the inner member. Further, a second radial gap exists between a radially outer surface of the outer member and a radially inner surface of the housing. According to the invention, the first and second radial gaps are sealed by first and second seals (180, 190), each of which comprises first (181, 191) and second (182, 192) radial sealing lips that bear against respective first and second radially oriented counterfaces (137, 138). Furthermore, the unit is lubricated with a grease comprising a calcium-based thickener or comprising calcium salt additives and the teeth (135) on the outer member are made of a bearing-grade steel that has been subjected to a hardening treatment which diffuses nitrogen into the surface of the teeth.

    Abstract: Provided is a method for manufacturing a gear wheel, the method including: preparing an insertion unit formed of a steel material having a hollow pipe shape; injection-molding an outer side unit including teeth on an outer circumference; and molding a connection unit having a wheel shape by injecting resin into at least three points between the insertion unit and the outer side unit so as to connect the insertion unit and the outer side unit after arranging the insertion unit on the inner center of the outer side unit. According to the method, removing of an unnecessarily injected portion may be omitted since the resin is injected between the insertion unit and the outer side unit while injection-molding the connection unit. Also, productivity is increased by decreasing a number of defective products generated due to cracks.
