    摘要: A lamp for automotive front lighting and a vehicle headlight comprising the lamp are described, as well as a method of manufacturing the lamp. The lamp 10 comprises a base 12 for mechanical and electrical connection to an automotive headlight 50. A burner 14 is fixed to the base 12 and comprises an enclosed transparent vessel 22. A first filament 34 is arranged within the vessel 22. A holding wire 30c is arranged within the vessel, and a baffle 40 is arranged proximate to the first filament 34 to partially shield light emitted from the first filament 34. The baffle 40 is fixed to the holding wire 30c. The transparent vessel 22 comprises a vessel wall including a cylindrical portion 24 surrounding the first filament 34. In order to obtain a lamp which may withstand vibration, the vessel wall comprises, within the cylindrical portion 24, a deformed material portion 38 which contacts the baffle 40 or the holding wire 30c. The deformed material portion 38 is shielded from the first filament 34 by the baffle 40. During manufacture, the first filament 34, the baffle 40 and the holding wire 30c are inserted into the vessel 22, and the vessel wall is deformed to provide the deformed material portion 38.

A clip-receiving aperture (24) is formed in the base (22), and a clip locator surface (26, 52, 54) is formed in the base (22) adjacent the clip-receiving aperture (24). A clip (28) is positioned in the clip-receiving aperture (24) to receive the press seal (17). The clip (28) has a first retainer (32) and a second retainer (33), the first retainer (32) engages the clip locator surface (26, 52, 54), whereby the clip (28) is located within the clip-receiving aperture (24). The second retainer (33) secures the clip (28) to the base (22), and a third retainer (34) secures the press seal (17) of the light source (12) within the clip (28).

    摘要: To permit easy assembly of a filament for a halogen incandescent lamp hav a filament holder frame (4) to retain an essentially planar filament (11) in position, the frame is made of two pre-manufactured identical frame halves (4a, 4b). Both frame halves have a cross element (7a, 7b), having a plurality of filament holders (10a, 10b) secured thereto, and two support strut portions (8a, 9a, 8b, 9b) at the ends thereof. To assemble the lamp, the two frame halves, together with the filament (11), are placed in a suitable jig, and the filament ends are threaded on one of the support strut portions (8a, 8b) of each one of the frame halves. The filament (11) is hooked on the filament holder (10a, 10b) and, by spreading apart the frame halves, the filament is stretched. The support strut portions (8a, 8b; 9a, 9b) are then connected by welding, thus completing the frame (4), and retaining the filament in stretched position. This permits mechanized assembly of the filament (11) in the frame (4) and, hence, inexpensive manufacture; separating the welding steps of the frame from filament connection reduces oxidation on part of the filament.

The structure and process include the use of an insulator portion with a printed circuit board adhered thereto which includes a testing pattern to evaluate the operability of a completed printed circuit board. The insulator portion which provides support for the test pattern extends past the edge of the printed circuit board thereby permitting one to test the operability of the printed circuit board without having to utilize valuable space and contact points on the printed board itself to test the operability of the completed printed circuit board once components have been installed.

    摘要: A method of constructing a filament support member from a single-piece preformed refractory metal wire having at least one loop protrusion formed in the wire and positioned between the ends of the wire. A section of glass tubing is positioned over and supported by the loop protrusion with a head portion of the loop extending beyond the section of tubing. Heat is applied to melt the section of tubing to form an insulating bead at the base of said loop protrusion. The head portion of the loop protrusion is then trimmed to interrupt electrical continuity in the wire and thus electrically isolate the respective ends of the wire.

    摘要: To permit easy attachment of a coiled filament, and especially a coiled-c or double-twist filament, to the current supply leads within a lamp bulb, in which the current supply leads are made of tungsten, each current supply lead is flattened to form a plate-like flattened surface in the vicinity of the terminal end of the current supply lead. The secondary coiling of a coiled-coil filament--or the single coil of a single-coiled filament--is then slipped over the end portion of the lead-in to extend over and about the flattened portion and with a few turns adjacent the flattened portion and therebeyond on the end portion (15) of the current lead-in, thereby retaining the end portion in position due to the additional width of the flattened portion while providing a reliable electrical contact. The greatest width of the flattened portion is slightly greater than the inner diameter of the secondary coiling of the filament (13), for example about 5% to 20% wider.

    摘要: The envelope of a compact halogen-cycle incandescent lamp is made from hard glass and the uncoiled legs of the tungsten filament are used as filament connector-support members by fastening them directly to flattened ends of a pair of single lead wires and embedding the resulting electrical junctures in the hermetic seal of fused glass which is formed on the end of the envelope. The lead wires originally comprise the legs of a hairpin-shaped wire member which permits the filament-mount to be made and handled as a separate subassembly. The U-bent part of the hairpin-shaped wire member is severed and removed after the mount has been sealed into the envelope to provide the required pair of separate lead wires.
